Located in the heart of Rome's Monti neighborhood—arguably one of the city's most stylish and character-filled districts—Casa Monti is truly one of the most fun and inspiring places I’ve ever stayed. Surrounded by cobblestone streets, independent boutiques, artisan workshops, wine bars, and cafés, the hotel has a really nice balance of luxury and personality that can be surprisingly hard to find in Rome. The interiors are vibrant and layered—mixing bold colors, eclectic artwork, and thoughtful design details.

I especially loved the atmosphere. Casa Monti makes you want to slow down and enjoy the hotel itself rather than simply use it as a base for sightseeing. I myself tend to care a little less (only a little) about splurging on a hotel when I’m in a major city—but staying here totally changed my mind and it made my visit so much more special. Despite being out and about all day, it was so nice to start and end my days here. Mornings felt relaxed, afternoons offered delicious sunset aperitivo on the rooftop terrace, and the Monti neighborhood gave us beautiful walks to dinner. Everyone seemed eager to share recommendations that went beyond the standard guidebook suggestions, from neighborhood cafés to lesser-known restaurants and shops.

The location is another major advantage. You can walk to many of Rome's most famous landmarks, yet Monti maintains a distinctly local feel once the daytime crowds disperse.

For anyone staying here, I highly recommend spending time exploring beyond the major sights. Wander through Monti without a destination, stop for a coffee in the morning, browse the independent boutiques, and make time for unhurried meals. One of my favorite meals in Rome was at Santo Palato, where traditional Roman dishes feel both authentic and thoughtfully executed. It's worth planning an evening around! For art and history lovers, Palazzo Altemps is one of the city's true gems—a beautiful Renaissance palace housing an extraordinary collection of classical sculpture, with a fraction of the crowds found at Rome's more famous museums. I was one of six people inside when I visited in July, and it was absolutely incredible. If you enjoy Palazzo Altemps, I'd also suggest Palazzo Doria Pamphilj and Basilica di San Clemente.

Casa Monti is great for couples, solo travelers, friends' getaways, and anyone who appreciates boutique hotels with a strong sense of place. Rather than delivering a generic luxury experience, it feels connected to the neighborhood around it, encouraging guests to experience Rome at a slower pace.

Need to know

The hotel has a small but fabulous and sunny spa and terrace—perfect for when you want to escape the brutal summer heat while still enjoying the weather.
