Curator’s statement
Ischia is one of my favorite destinations in Italy because it offers the beauty and coastline of the Amalfi Coast and Capri, but with a slower pace and a stronger connection to wellness and local culture. During my stay at Strand Hotel Delfini Terme, I was reminded why the island feels so special: dramatic sea views, natural thermal waters, and a relaxed atmosphere that encourages travelers to truly slow down. Perched above the water with direct views of the Aragonese Castle, the hotel combines classic Ischian charm with an authentic spa experience that feels restorative from the moment you arrive.

Perched on a cliffside overlooking the sea, Strand Hotel Delfini Terme offers one of the most memorable settings I experienced during my time scouting hotels in Ischia. Located just below the iconic Aragonese Castle, the property feels tucked away from the crowds and perfectly suited for travelers looking for a quieter, more restorative side of southern Italy. While Capri and the Amalfi Coast often receive the most attention, Ischia offers a slower and more authentic atmosphere that many travelers end up preferring once they experience it firsthand. I found the island especially appealing for travelers interested in wellness, coastal scenery, and a more relaxed pace of travel.

I stayed in a suite with a large private balcony overlooking both the castle and the water—easily one of the highlights of my stay. The room featured traditional Italian décor with antique furnishings that gave it timeless character, but the true focal point was the outdoor space. Watching the light change over the sea throughout the day made the experience feel especially memorable. Not all rooms at the property offer the same views, so I strongly recommend booking a sea-view balcony room category for travelers wanting the full experience.

One of the defining features of Strand Hotel Delfini Terme is its connection to Ischia’s famous thermal spa culture. The hotel’s indoor thermal pool uses mineral-rich spring water that has drawn visitors to the island for centuries, while two outdoor pools and private beach access make it easy to fully settle into the slower rhythm of island life. During my stay, I booked a facial treatment at the spa and found the entire experience calming, restorative, and perfectly aligned with the wellness-focused atmosphere of the property. The hotel is especially well suited for couples, wellness travelers, and repeat visitors to Italy who want to experience a destination that feels more local and less hurried than some of the region’s better-known hot spots.

The hospitality throughout my stay felt warm and personal from the moment I arrived. One evening, I enjoyed dinner at the hotel’s panoramic restaurant, where classic dishes like spaghetti alle vongole and tiramisu were served overlooking the water in an elegant but relaxed setting. Beyond the hotel itself, the location also works well as a base for exploring the island, whether that means visiting Ischia’s coastal towns, taking a boat tour around the island, or planning a day trip to nearby Procida. For travelers seeking a blend of scenic beauty, wellness, and authentic southern Italian charm, Strand Hotel Delfini Terme is a property I would confidently recommend.

Need to know
Not all rooms have castle or sea views, so choosing the right room category makes a significant difference in the overall experience.
The hotel’s thermal pool and spa are major highlights, especially for travelers interested in wellness-focused stays.
Strand Hotel Delfini Terme is best suited for couples, wellness travelers, and repeat visitors to Italy looking for a quieter alternative to Capri or the Amalfi Coast.
The property’s cliffside setting means there are stairs and uneven pathways in some areas, which may not be ideal for travelers with limited mobility.
Ischia works especially well for travelers who enjoy slower travel, long meals, spa experiences, and scenic coastal views rather than fast-paced sightseeing.
