Shangri-La Boracay stands out as one of the most exceptional luxury resorts in the Philippines — not just for its idyllic setting, but also for the elevated experience it delivers from the moment you arrive. Nestled on a secluded stretch of the island’s northern coast, the property offers a level of privacy that’s rare in a destination as popular as Boracay. Accessed via speedboat transfer arranged by the resort, the journey itself sets the tone for an exclusive escape. The lush grounds are thoughtfully integrated into the natural environment, creating a feeling of serenity and tropical immersion that is hard to match.
What truly sets Shangri-La Boracay apart is its attention to detail and the variety of experiences it offers. The villas and suites, many with private pools and sweeping ocean views, are beautifully appointed and ideal for couples, honeymooners and families seeking extra space and privacy. My personal favorite was the Tree House Villa, perched above the canopy with panoramic views of the sea — perfect for romantic getaways. For families, the resort’s two beaches (Punta Bunga and Banyugan) offer safe swimming and soft white sand, while the on-site activities like snorkeling, paddleboarding and nature trails keep all ages engaged. CHI, The Spa deserves a special mention — it's one of the best wellness experiences in the region, set in its own serene village within the resort.
Dining is another highlight. Whether it’s a beachfront breakfast at Vintana, freshly grilled seafood at Sirena or a sunset cocktail at the cliffside Solana Bar, each meal feels like an experience. The service across the property is consistently warm, intuitive and polished — a true embodiment of Filipino hospitality. I always felt like I was in capable, caring hands, and that sentiment is echoed in client feedback as well.
I recommend Shangri-La Boracay to travelers looking for a refined, restorative retreat. It’s especially ideal for honeymooners, couples celebrating milestones, luxury family travelers and even solo travelers seeking peace and indulgence. For clients who value privacy, personalized service and immersive natural beauty, this resort should be at the top of their list. It’s not just a place to stay — it’s a destination in itself.
Need to know
Boracay is one of the Philippines’ most iconic beach destinations, known for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear waters and vibrant island atmosphere. While the island is famous for its lively White Beach and energetic nightlife, it also offers plenty of opportunities for quiet luxury and nature-based activities — especially when staying in a more secluded area like Shangri-La.
The best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to May, when the weather is sunny and the sea is calm. The peak months are December through April, so travelers looking for fewer crowds might enjoy visiting in November or early May.
Clients will typically fly into either Caticlan (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) or Kalibo International Airport. Caticlan is the more convenient option, with a shorter transfer time to the island. Shangri-La provides a seamless transfer experience from Caticlan, including land and speedboat transfers directly to the resort.
Beyond relaxing at the resort, travelers can enjoy island-hopping tours to nearby destinations like Crystal Cove Island or Magic Island (popular for cliff diving), snorkeling at Crocodile Island or taking a sunset paraw (local sailboat) cruise. White Beach is great for sunset strolls, beachfront dining and souvenir shopping, while D'Mall offers a mix of local boutiques, cafés and casual eateries.
Try local dishes like chicken inasal, fresh lumpia and kinilaw (Filipino-style ceviche). While the resort offers gourmet dining, exploring some of Boracay’s beachfront restaurants can add a fun local touch to the trip.
Book activities and restaurant reservations in advance, especially during high season.
For families, bring reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes and a waterproof camera to make the most of beach days.
Boracay offers the best of both worlds: a buzzing island scene for those who want to explore, and serene, luxurious escapes for those who want to unwind.
