Curator’s statement
Just outside Phoenix, The Wigwam offers a more relaxed and understated take on Arizona luxury. While Scottsdale often gets the spotlight, this historic West Valley resort delivers spacious accommodations, golf, pools, and resort amenities with exceptional value. Having stayed here several times while visiting family in the area, it’s become one of my favorite recommendations for travelers looking for a quieter luxury escape. The blend of classic desert charm and modern comfort makes it an easy choice for both weekend getaways and extended stays.

One of the things I appreciate most about The Wigwam is the variety of room categories available throughout the resort. I’ve personally stayed in several different room types over the years, and each offers a slightly different experience, depending on what you’re looking for. Whether your priority is a quieter location, extra space for a family stay, or easy access to the pools and amenities, there’s truly an option that fits. This is one of those resorts where working with a travel advisor can make a big difference in matching you with the right accommodations.

Dining is another highlight of the resort experience, with multiple on-site options that make it easy to settle in and enjoy your stay without constantly leaving the property. From casual poolside bites to relaxed sit-down dining, the resort offers something for every pace of vacation. The atmosphere throughout the resort keeps things approachable while still feeling elevated and polished.

Golf travelers will feel right at home at The Wigwam, which features three championship golf courses right on property. The resort has long been known as one of Arizona’s classic golf destinations, and the expansive grounds give it a true resort feel. Whether you’re planning a dedicated golf getaway or simply want the option to play during your stay, the accessibility and variety here make it an easy choice. Even non-golfers can appreciate the beautifully maintained landscapes woven throughout the property.

The Twilight Suite at The Wigwam
One of the reasons I continue recommending The Wigwam is because it works equally well for couples’ trips and family vacations. Families love the pool area designed for kids, complete with waterslides and space to spread out, while adults can retreat to the quieter adults-only pool for a more relaxing atmosphere. It strikes a balance that many resorts struggle to achieve—lively and family-friendly without feeling overwhelming. That versatility makes it an excellent option for multigenerational trips, weekend escapes, or even staycations for locals.

Need to know
The Wigwam has a classic Arizona resort feel that’s very different from newer luxury properties in Scottsdale. Its historic charm and sprawling layout give it a more relaxed, authentic desert atmosphere.
The Wigwam is especially convenient for spring training games, events at State Farm Stadium, or travelers visiting family in the western Phoenix suburbs. Many visitors overlook this area, which can mean better value and a less crowded experience. Travelers can often get more space and resort amenities at a lower price point compared to many Scottsdale luxury resorts.
The Wigwam is great for groups and multigenerational travel. Because of the room layouts, multiple pool areas, and wide range of activities, it works especially well for family reunions, girls’ trips, golf weekends, and milestone celebrations.
