Curator’s statement
We had a wonderful October getaway on the Carnival Valor for five nights, sailing to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. The onboard entertainment, food, beverages and service were top notch and made our getaway absolutely perfect! The ports of Costa Maya and Cozumel offer options for every traveler and were the perfect fun days in port.

Booking & embarkation
We booked this cruise fairly close to the sail date, just a month or two before departure. The booking process was incredibly easy and seamless. Online check-in was completed as soon as it became available. Upon arriving at the port at our designated appointment time, the embarkation process was smooth and efficient — we walked right onto the ship without any issues. We were greeted by the Carnival onboard team with amazing, high-energy welcomes that immediately set a fun tone for the trip.
Cabin & first impressions
Our balcony room was ready as promised when we boarded. The cabin was spacious, with wonderful views from the balcony. While the TV in the room was on the smaller side (an area Carnival could improve by upgrading to larger screens), it didn’t detract from our overall comfort and enjoyment.

First night
We unpacked and explored the ship before heading to a wonderful dinner in the main dining room. Afterward, we enjoyed drinks at two of our favorite spots onboard — the Alchemy Bar and the Red Frog Rum Pub. Later that evening, we spent some time in the casino before returning to the room for a relaxing night with some movies.
Day 2: Sea day
Our first full day at sea was packed with activities. We were honored to be invited as VIFP guests to the Diamond gathering, where we enjoyed fantastic snacks and drinks. The rest of the day was spent exploring the ship, relaxing by the pool and hot tub, and enjoying live music. Dinner was another highlight, followed by an entertaining show onboard.

If you are a Platinum or Diamond VIFP member, never skip the reunion!
Day 3: Costa Maya, Mexico
Despite a slight delay in docking due to windy conditions, our day in Costa Maya was a standout. We quickly rented a golf cart and headed to Mahahual, visiting the Chunky Monkey and the Krazy Lobster. We loved exploring the area by golf cart and had a relaxing, laid-back beach day with excellent food and drinks. After returning the golf cart, we enjoyed another great evening of dinner and drinks at the Steakhouse bar.

Day 4: Cozumel, Mexico
We started our day early and headed straight to Mr. Sanchos All-Inclusive Beach Resort — a favorite stop of ours in Cozumel. As always, the service was phenomenal, and we enjoyed a full day of relaxation with access to pools, swim-up bars, the beach and a wide variety of delicious food and drinks. That evening, we had a truly exceptional dinner at the Steakhouse onboard, where both the service and food were exquisite.

Always a good time at Mr. Sanchos All Inclusive Beach Club.
Day 5: Final sea day
Our last sea day was all about enjoying everything the ship had to offer. We spent time in the pools and hot tubs, tried our luck again at the casino and participated in trivia games and other entertainment happening all day across the ship. The energy around the Lido Deck, with constant entertainment and live music, made for a lively and memorable day.

Disembarkation
Sadly, our trip came to an end as we returned to New Orleans. Disembarkation was smooth and efficient, closing out a truly amazing experience aboard the Carnival Valor.
Need to know
I always recommend booking your golf cart for Costa Maya and your day pass for Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel early, as both do frequently sell out.
