Costa Maya is one of my favorite Western Caribbean ports because it offers beautiful natural scenery while still being incredibly easy to navigate for cruise travelers. The port area itself is well organized and lively, but the real magic happens just beyond it, especially in the water. The reef system here is ideal for snorkeling thanks to its clear visibility and calm conditions, making it approachable for beginners while still exciting for experienced snorkelers.

The snorkeling experience I recommend most includes a dedicated guide who takes you directly to the best spots, which makes a noticeable difference compared to unguided excursions. Having someone who knows the reef means you are more likely to see vibrant marine life and feel confident in the water.
