Curator’s statement
This was our first international trip as a family with a two kids. One was almost 1 year old and another almost 4 years old. We were looking for a luxury resort that was also all inclusive with delicious food, as well as family friendly. We found Grand Velas Los Cabos after a lot of research, and, while it is quite expensive, I must admit, I was spoiled by the food throughout the trip. It’s going to be hard to find another all-inclusive that will beat the food variety for both adults and kids.

Our trip took place in July, and it was a great time to go because of the weather. It was hot, but we were lucky to have some breeze on occasion.
We flew into Cabo, and, while we had to pay for transportation, it was private and also on time. The drive itself is about 45 minutes and the resort is safe and secure. We stayed Tuesday to Saturday.
Once we arrived, we were greeted with refreshments and our luggage was taken to be sent to our rooms. The view was very nice and the room was super spacious.

We pre-ordered baby food that was ready in our room, along with all of my toddler amenities. They have all sorts of baby and toddler amenities, including baby monitors, hot water kettles, cribs, high chairs, and a whole lot more. You just have to contact the concierge prior to your arrival and they will make note of it on your reservation.
The room didn't have a swim-up pool but there was a nice small plunge pool that was big enough for all four of us. We stayed on the first floor and our room was towards the end of the hall. It was nice and quiet and we didn’t see many guests arriving. The resort is very walkable and small enough to have kids walk from the room to the restaurants.
My favorite restaurant was Frida—the food and drinks were amazing! We ordered almost everything on the dinner and dessert menus. My husband loved Velas 10—he is a steak lover, so he got his Tomahawk. Our toddler ate early, so most of the time we would have dinner at 5:30 pm and there was no wait. The awesome thing about the resort is that everywhere was able to make something for my little one to eat, even if it was something off the menu like steamed broccoli or a cup of blueberries.

There’s a kids' club, one for younger kids and one for older kids. There’s also a small playground and splash pad for the littles. Because we went during the Fourth of July, they even had an event outdoors with a full buffet and a carnival with tons of games and prizes. It was very child-friendly through and through. In the evening, there were some kid-friendly events, but not as many as at other resorts—there were mainly daytime events for kids.
While the beach wasn’t swimmable, we hung out there for a little bit. It was too dry and hot and there weren’t any toys for the kids so we had to buy some (quite expensive). Definitely bring your own beach toys as they do not supply any. I didn’t see much beach service, maybe because we went early after breakfast.
All in all, I do recommend Grand Velas Los Cabos for families who are major foodies. There are only a few pools, and it’s nice to have a splash pad area for kids. You can also hire a babysitter to watch the littles.

Need to know
Book all your dinner reservations early, and let the concierge know what you need for baby amenities. They even have a stroller, which I reserved and it was great because we didn’t have to dirty ours.
