Curator’s statement
Sommerro House is one of Oslo’s most exciting design hotels—a beautifully restored Art Deco landmark that blends heritage architecture with a lively mix of restaurants, bars, and one of the city’s best wellness spaces. Just tucked behind it, Villa Inkognito feels like its more private, residential extension—offering a completely different pace and sense of seclusion while still plugged into everything Sommerro has to offer. Together, they create a really special “best of both worlds” stay in the heart of Frogner.

Villa Inkognito is one of those stays that feels like a true insider find in Oslo—completely discreet from the outside, but incredibly considered the moment you step inside. It sits just behind Sommerro House, and the connection between the two properties is such a cool experience: you get the privacy of a standalone villa, but full access to everything at Sommerro.
The interiors are where it really stands out. Designed by GrecoDeco (the same studio behind Sommerro), it feels like stepping into a private residence rather than a hotel—rich textures, moody tones, antique furnishings, Art Nouveau details, and little design surprises in every room. There’s a sense of personality throughout, like every space has its own story, which makes it feel much more intimate than a traditional luxury hotel.

What I love most is that when you privatize the villa, it truly becomes yours—including the lower level rooms that are typically off limits for single-room bookings. Down there you’ll find intimate lounge-style rooms and corners that feel like a private members’ club or creative hideaway. The kitchen and cocktail bar come staffed with a chef and bartender who can whip up just about anything your heart desires!
At the same time, you have access to everything at Sommerro House next door—the incredible spa and historic baths, rooftop pool, multiple restaurants, bars, and a social energy that contrasts nicely with the calm of the villa.

Location-wise, it’s right in Frogner, which makes it super easy to explore Oslo on foot—close to the palace, galleries, and the waterfront.
Villa Inkognito really works best as a full buyout—it becomes less of a hotel and more of a private Oslo townhouse experience, with all the design detail and service you’d expect from Sommerro, just in a more intimate, residential format.
This would be fabulous for a group of friends or family. However, if you’re traveling in a smaller group (like my husband and I were), you can book individual rooms and have a slightly more exclusive-feeling stay while accessing all of Sommerro’s amenities.
