Site Inspection – Lisboa Pessoa Hotel (Lisbon, Portugal)
Curator’s statement

I had the privilege of staying at Lisboa Pessoa Hotel for several days during my recent trip to Lisbon earlier this year in March. I had originally booked a one-night stay at this hotel, then extended for a week when I decided to stay in Lisbon for a longer period.

Lisboa Pessoa Hotel is part of the Art and Soul Group, a recently branded group of three boutique hotels in Portugal, with a strong social and environmental focus. The hotel is a beautiful hotel conveniently located in central Lisbon, with an amazing rooftop restaurant; where you can watch the sunrise over the Tagus River and see The Castle of Sao Jorge.

The hotel is inspired by the life and work of Fernando Pessoa.  All floors of the hotel, as well as the 75 rooms, are dedicated to the great Portuguese poet and the main heteronyms: Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis and Álvaro de Campos. Lisboa Pessoa Hotel is ideal for those who like to explore the city on foot, conveniently located a few meters from Chiado, close to places such as Bairro Alto, Rossio and Principe Real.

Room Types

The hotel has seven categories of rooms.

Lisboa Pessoa Hotel is also home to one of Lisbon’s most beautiful libraries, Fernando Lisboa Library. It is more than a library. It is also Bernardo Soares Room, named after the semi-heteronym of Fernando Pessoa, assistant bookkeeper and author of the Book of Disquiet, the ideal place for events such as gatherings, book launches and cultural lectures. Guests can simply request the desired book at reception.

The hotel also hosts free weekly walking literary tours for guests, available for booking at reception. A literary tour that starts at the reception of the Lisboa Pessoa Hotel, passes through Largo do Carmo, Baixa and ends at Praça do Comércio, more specifically at Café Martinho da Arcada. An experience about Pessoa's places and poetic magic.

Throughout the journey, the curiosity of visitors and guests of the Lisboa Pessoa Hotel is aroused and encouraged by Fabrizio Boscaglia, a Pessoa academic.

A 1h30 literary trip that will be available to guests, every Friday at 11:30 am.

Spa & Gym:

Lisboa Pessoa is home to Azure Wellness & Spa, containing two treatment and massage rooms, SPA pool, sauna, Turkish bath and a gym. The Spa has a multidisciplinary team of specialized therapists. Guests can book a massage at the hotel reception, or online.

Spa hours: 10:00 am – 1:30 pm & 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Dining: Mensagem Restaurant & Bar

I was fortunate enough to enjoy dinner and cocktails at this beautiful restaurant with a view over the city of Lisbon! I was also lucky enough to watch the sunrise over the Tagus River from the rooftop.

(Interior room with eight niches and private window over the city of Lisbon. And, still, a lounge area and two rooftops, authentic viewpoints of the Portuguese capital, located on the top floor)

BREAKFAST

Weekdays: 07:30 am – 10:30 am
Weekend: 07:30 am – 11:00 am

BAR / DINNER

12:00 pm – 00:00 am
06:30 pm – 00:00 pm (Tapas and Dinner menu)

I highly recommend this hotel based on price point, service, location, amenities and exceptional customer service. I cannot wait to return to Portugal to experience their other properties, and I look forward to giving my clients a phenomenal experience, like mine, or even better!
