Curator’s statement
Lisbon is full of culture, history, and delicious food! We walked (until our feet fell off), did a few tours, and loved our TukTuk tour to learn about the history, culture, and food of Lisbon. From Pastéis de Belém to visiting the castle, Lisbon is baked in history and lively culture.

Day one
We arrived in Lisbon early in the morning, and checked into our hotel to drop off our luggage before heading out to explore the city.
We stumbled upon Herculano Restaurant for lunch and loved the affordable and great wine and food, especially after traveling the previous day. It was a small bakery and we highly recommend it.
After lunch, we wandered the main city area, while heading to Castelo de São Jorge for our afternoon tour. Having walked from Parque Eduardo VII to the Castle was a great way to explore and walk the city.

The castle tour we did was a great way to learn about the history of Lisbon and get our bearings on the city, plus we saw so many peacocks at the castle. We really enjoyed the tour of the castle and kicking off our time in Lisbon.
That evening we made last-minute reservations at Cervejaria Trindade, which is a former monastery. Cervejaria Trindade was our best meal in Lisbon—we enjoyed every dish from the starters to the fish entree to the desserts. They were also able to accommodate gluten-free really well.

Day two
On our second day, we embarked on a 4-hour TukTuk tour, which was our highlight in Lisbon! We loved having a private 4-hour tour going all over the city—from the Castle to Belem to Ponte 25 de Abril (the bridge) to the Monument of the Discoveries.
Pasteis de Belem (Belem pastries) were incredible to try, and they offer a gluten-free option that is not the same as the pastry but very delicious.
Our TukTuk tour guide showed us the oldest bookstore in the world, and The Bertrand Library, which was founded in 1732. We returned after our tour to explore the store.
