Curator’s statement
Palmaïa, The House of AïA, completely redefined what an all-inclusive resort could be. Rather than centering the experience around endless buffets and pool parties, Palmaïa focuses on wellness, exceptional cuisine, meaningful experiences, and reconnecting with nature. From sunrise yoga on the beach to swimming in a hidden cenote surrounded by jungle, every moment felt magical. I left feeling rested, inspired, and already planning my return.

Nestled between the lush jungle of Playa del Carmen and the turquoise Caribbean Sea, Palmaïa, The House of AïA, offers a luxury all-inclusive experience unlike any other in Mexico. While it welcomes families, the resort is transitioning to guests ages 10 and older, creating an atmosphere that feels peaceful and refined. I would confidently recommend Palmaïa to couples celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, solo travelers seeking personal renewal, wellness enthusiasts, yogis, and anyone looking to truly unplug. If your idea of vacation revolves around nightlife and crowded pool parties, this may not be the right fit—but if you’re craving relaxation, incredible food, and meaningful experiences, Palmaïa delivers in every way.

AïA herself

One of the biggest surprises of my stay was the culinary program. The food deserves its own five stars. Palmaïa follows its signature "Nourishing Biome" philosophy, emphasizing fresh, nutrient-rich ingredients and beautifully crafted plant-forward cuisine. Even as someone who isn’t vegan, I was amazed by every meal. Guests can easily add animal proteins to many dishes, making the dining experience approachable for everyone. Between the specialty restaurants, beach club, taco truck, my favorite “creative wellness-inspired mocktails,” and 24-hour room service, the food quickly became one of the highlights of our trip. Even my boyfriend, who was skeptical about a wellness-focused resort, left talking about how incredible every meal was.

What truly separates Palmaïa from other luxury resorts is its commitment to wellness. The wellness program is unlike anything I’ve experienced at another resort. Every guest is assigned a personal Nomadic Guide who acts as a dedicated concierge throughout the stay, handling everything from restaurant reservations to activity planning through WhatsApp or in person. Each morning began with sunrise yoga overlooking the Caribbean, followed by opportunities to participate in sound baths, breathwork, cacao ceremonies, meditation, painting workshops, cooking classes, and healing experiences led through the resort’s Architects of Life program. Whether you choose to participate in every activity or simply spend your days relaxing by the pool, Palmaïa allows you to create the vacation that fits your pace.

The natural setting is simply breathtaking. The resort blends seamlessly into the surrounding jungle, where winding pathways reveal hidden gardens, cenotes, caves, and native wildlife. The best was monkeys swinging through the trees. We also loved riding the complimentary bicycles throughout the property. One of my favorite memories was the resort’s freshwater cenote—the highlight of our entire trip.

As you walk the winding pathways, you'll discover hidden gardens, caves, cenotes, tropical plants, and wildlife

Hidden beneath the jungle canopy, the crystal-clear fresh water felt magical. It was peaceful, refreshing, and unlike anything I've experienced at another resort.
The award-winning Atlantis Spa, built around the jungle landscape and inspired by ancient Mayan healing traditions, further reinforces Palmaïa's philosophy of connecting guests with both nature and themselves. Combined with beautifully designed oceanfront suites, thoughtful amenities, and genuinely warm service from every staff member we encountered, Palmaïa became one of the most memorable resorts I’ve ever visited.
Need to know
Palmaïa is best experienced by embracing everything the resort has to offer beyond the beach. Download the daily activities schedule and plan to attend at least a few wellness experiences—you may discover a new favorite practice. Don't miss the sunrise beach yoga, the taco truck, swimming in the natural cenote, or a treatment at the Atlantis Spa.
Be sure to communicate with your Nomadic Guide early in your stay to reserve restaurants, spa appointments, and activities, as popular experiences can fill quickly. While the resort is wellness-focused, guests who prefer traditional dining options will still find plenty to enjoy, as many dishes can be customized with animal proteins.
Pack lightweight clothing, comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, and bug repellent for jungle evenings. (Thank god the resort provides their homemade bug cream in the rooms.)
Best tip: Keep an open mind—Palmaïa is designed to help you slow down, disconnect, and leave feeling better than when you arrived. It works!
Palmaïa is not just a destination; it is an experience that becomes a part of you. It is profound.
