Boutique Barbados

What I was most impressed about Barbados, was the amount of amazing family-run, boutique properties. Corporate, international hotel chains were not nearly as prevalent as on other nearby islands… which I found charming. See below for my view on some of the island’s top properties.

And also, here are some helpful non-negotiable spots to visit if you bring your kids to Barbados (which I highly recommend!):

• Barbados Wildlife Reserve, where you can meet monkeys, turtles, and peacocks.

• St. Nicholas Abbey and Steam Railway, to see the historic train, stroll through an old sugar plantation, and sample local rum.

• Oisten’s Friday night fish market, for local fish, dancing, and tons of energy.

• Deia Beach Club—a white sand, full-service premium beach club with an amazing restaurant, and tropical pool.

• Crane Beach is our favorite beach on the island, with pink sands, perfect views, and a great fish shack for lunch.

• Miami Beach—sprawling beach, with casual food trucks and a perfect cove to swim with little ones.
