Curator’s statement
Palm Springs is a desert oasis with its warm weather, near endless options for outdoor dining, lively nightlife, and my personal favorite attribute - incredible vintage shopping nearly everywhere you turn. On top of that, the town is extremely dog friendly. My pup tagged along on my weekend getaway, and went with me to everywhere from a pool party to dinner to a craft cocktail bar. Here’s how we spent the weekend.

Where to stay in Palm Springs

There are a plethora of dog-friendly hotels to choose from in Palm Springs, and we selected the relaxed vibe of ARRIVE Palm Springs. Shortly after checking in, there was a knock at the door to our room, and it was hotel staff delivering a pet bed and bowl for my dog, Marty.
After a quick change of clothes, we headed directly to the pool, which is in the center courtyard — and really the central hub — of the hotel. The property is on the smaller side, but has everything you would need for your stay. Flanking the pool, you’ll find a hot tub, fire pits, plenty of seating, a full bar and restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, an ice cream shop, and a coffee shop.
Marty was allowed to stay with us on the pool deck as long as we promised he wouldn’t jump in! He enjoyed a shaded lounger while we relaxed at the edge of the pool. After some drinks and lunch at the on-site restaurant - Palm Canyon Swim & Social — we retreated to the room for some much-needed time in the air conditioning and a little more of a quiet environment. Like many hotels in Palm Springs, the pool had a DJ starting in the afternoon, and we needed a break from the beats.
Dinner
Dog-friendly dining patios are common in Palm Springs, but we took our dining selection to the next level, opting to have dinner at Boozehounds. They offer both outdoor and atrium seating, and Marty had his own menu to order from! We had some delicious creative dishes, while Marty had a sweet potato topped with ground chicken and whipped cream.
Drinks
After dinner, we visited The Tailor Shop for some innovative cocktails. Marty was welcome at the dark, moody indoor-outdoor bar with a great soundtrack. While we imbibed, Marty was served a bowl of water, of course!
Breakfast
After a late-night, breakfast the next morning was a latte and enormous chocolate croissant from ARRIVE Palm Springs’ onsite cafe, Cartel Coffee Lab. We enjoyed it in the courtyard of the hotel, but the cafe is street-facing and has its own outdoor seating as well. Beware, the line was very long on a Sunday morning, but worth it!
While we didn’t visit a restaurant this time, brunch in Palm Springs is easy to find. On past trips, I’ve always hit up Cheeky's for a great breakfast and a Bloody Mary. Dogs are welcome on the patio!
Shopping
Before our departure, we took Marty to shop at Revivals, which is a true treasure hunt. It is a departure from some of the expertly curated- and pricy - Palm Springs vintage stores. Revivals has everything from clothes to furniture to a great selection of records, VHS tapes and cassettes. We came home with some interesting CDs, but I did have an eye on a 90s Bob Mackie fleece jacket!
When I am in town minus the dog, my favorite vintage store of all time is The Fine Art of Design in Palm Desert. Always worth the 30 minute drive from Palm Springs, I’ve yet to come home empty handed. You can find everything from beautifully curated vintage designer clothes, to bags, to jewelry. My favorite purchases have been a gold snake bracelet and a YSL mini bag from the 80s.

Need to know
Even if the hotel is dog-friendly, the property may not allow your dog to be left unattended in your room. Be prepared to truly spend the entire weekend with them!
