Site Inspection: Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Hotel
Curator’s statement

Back in November, I visited the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Hotel! I had the pleasure of staying there for two nights and it was great. They upgraded us upon arrival and accommodated a 11am check-in.

Now, this may be because this was the hotel I was choosing between to host my wedding guests for my upcoming wedding! (+ we chose it!) They were so great to work with in terms of hotel blocks and offered us great rates over Fourth of July weekend.

It was such a great property for what we were looking for. Fun and friendly for all ages, had a variety of room types with connecting rooms with beach-front access. The hotel rooms all look into the resort, almost in a U-shape, around the entrance of the resort, through to the pool area off into the beach. The hotel very much has an indoor/outdoor feeling because of this.

18 floors, two separate towers, 658 rooms many of which have partial ocean views. Their suites on-site are legendary, during their renovations they created a few more penthouse suites. Each room is very modern and sleek. Very comfortable beds and accommodating bathrooms. Each stay includes with a beach bag, two water bottles and a Nespresso machine.

July 2023 UPDATE: We are officially MARRIED and we thought this hotel was a great place to host our family and friends over the week. Hey, I'm a travel agent AND a bride - it would be almost impossible for me to say everything went perfect. Especially because the beloved Monkey Pod opened up downstairs the week after the wedding. (I'm still sad, can you tell?)

My husband and I spoiled ourselves with the Grand Navigator Suite (penthouse views with the largest lanai in all of Waikiki) and it was a great place to get ready on our special day, host my bridal shower AND a little afterparty post-wedding. It really did work out great. The Grand Navigator has two king bedrooms, two bathrooms and a full wrap-around porch (or lanai as Hawaiians call it). To get to this penthouse  can be  a bit confusing, as it sits on the Grand Navigator Floor; but yes, this also means you can rent it out, with the add-on of 4 other rooms, to have total privacy!

One last mention I am going to leave you with about the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach are their Club Rooms. In case you're looking for an "All Inclusive" experience on Oahu, this is the closest I've found. The Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Club rooms come with Voyager Club Access which includes a full breakfast buffet each morning with spectacular views over the ocean and then appetizers and drinks from 3-6PM each day.

Need to Know

The Reef recently opened after $80 million dollars worth of renovations.
