The property is designed to make travel with children feel easy while still maintaining a high level of service and organization. The lagoon provides calm, swimmable water, and the resort layout allows families to move seamlessly between pools, beach, dining, and activities without needing to leave the property. Everything feels intentional, which is a big part of what makes the experience work so well.

What stood out most to me was the level of programming for kids. The character experiences were a highlight, especially the meet and greets, which felt personal and well managed rather than crowded or rushed. This was easily one of my girls’ favorite parts of the trip. We also did a Mickey breakfast, which is worth recommending in advance, as it adds another memorable touch and tends to book up quickly. The balance of structured activities and free time is well done, allowing families to stay as engaged or relaxed as they want throughout the stay.

While Aulani is very easy to enjoy as a self-contained resort, I would recommend renting a car for at least part of the trip if clients want to explore more of Oahu. We did this and found it really worthwhile. It gave us the flexibility to get off property, go for a hike, visit the Arizona Memorial, and discover a few quieter beaches that felt more local and less crowded.

There are also great casual stops nearby. There is a convenient market directly across the street from the resort that offers both food and souvenirs, which is helpful for quick meals, snacks, or picking up a few items without needing to plan a full outing. It is an easy option that adds to the overall convenience of the stay.

Overall, clients who combine a few off-property experiences with time at the resort tend to get the most out of Aulani, especially those who want to balance relaxation with a bit of exploration.
