Curator’s statement
I had only been living in South Carolina for a couple of weeks when family invited me to spend the day at Montage Palmetto Bluff. At the time, it was the perfect break from unpacking. As I drove down beautiful Old Palmetto Bluff Road, I couldn't help but pinch myself that this beautiful area is where I now call home! My day trip went by too fast, and while I enjoyed the pool and tennis courts, I only scratched the surface on what the 20,000-acre resort offered. Fast forward a few years, and I knew that this stunning property was worth a closer look. The team at Montage Palmetto Bluff couldn't have been more welcoming during my site visit- Southern Hospitality at its core. Read on to find out more about the perfect Southern escape for just about anyone.

Accommodations
I toured for almost two hours, and I still could not tell you the ins and outs of all of the accommodation types, as there are so many to choose from. For couples, the Main Inn is going to give you that central location and a bit more hustle and bustle. You could also go for one of the cottages or suites for added privacy and stunning views of the May River or Lagoon. Think cozy fireplaces, screened in porches (with blue ceilings, of course!) and spacious bathrooms with stand-alone tubs. If you are traveling with a bigger crew, whether it be your kids or a group of friends, the signature residences and village homes are going to be your best bet. You could spend hours browsing all of the options, but let me take that off your plate. Our partners from Montage are skilled at helping to match your preferences, style, needs and headcount with a space and price that fits best for you. They are also more than delighted to personalize your stay.

Amenities and activities
It can't be overstated how vast this resort is, and you can be as booked and busy as you wish during your time here.
For nature lovers and adventurers, the Eco Tour offerings on land and water are a must-do. Kayaking, paddle boarding and inland waterway tours are just a small sampling of things to do. All activities are led by experienced and knowledgeable guides who truly love the lowcountry. Don't forget about a visit to the Equestrian Center or archery, ax throwing and clay shooting at the Shooting Club. Montage Palmetto Bluff's events and activities change with the seasons, and there is no bad time to visit! See what they are up to here.
Looking to stay active on your vacation? The May River Golf Course, a scenic, 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, is known as a golfer's paradise. Bikes are readily available for you to explore either via a guided tour or on your own. Depending on what accommodation you book, golf carts and bikes may be included with your home.
But what if you are looking to go ahead and do nothing? That works, too. There are plenty of seats by the pool for you and your book. Spa Montage uses local products and elements to remind you of your setting. Tranquility is an understatement if you choose to lounge on your screened-in porch and watch those magical southern sunsets.
Food & beverage
A resort that caters to vacationers of all ages, also has enough outlets and offerings to satiate its wide range of visitors. Fine dining and private dining are great choices for your celebratory stays or large party needs. There are plenty of casual options as well, from the 1950s fire truck that is tossing pizzas to the nightly s'mores sprinkled around the fire pits on property. My favorite surprise- secret's out — was Hush, the speakeasy I stumbled into, that offers great mixology classes and tours of their wine cellar as well. More of Montage's expansive selections can be found here.
Need to know
There are properties out there that cater to niche clientele, specific demographics, etc. and then there is Montage Palmetto Bluff. Their expansive offerings truly have something for everyone, so whether you have been tasked with planning the next multi-Gen family trip, are looking for a guys' golf trip/girls' spa weekend, or a place to unwind after touring neighboring Savannah or Charleston, this is your spot.
