Curator’s statement
My family and I visited Ambergris Caye in Belize for spring break 2025. We stayed at Victoria House Resort & Spa in the infinity suites (which is perfect for a family). The grounds were unbelievable and the accommodations were top-notch. With two toddlers at the time (3 and 4), we loved the freedom to explore the island by golf cart or enjoy the amazing pools and beach area at the resort. Belize is typically overlooked as a family vacation for those with younger kids, but I highly recommend it.

Ambergris Caye is a quick 10-minute plane ride from Belize International Airport. The main mode of transportation on the island is golf carts, which my family LOVED! We were quickly picked up on a golf cart and escorted to Victoria House Resort & Spa, which was only a short ride away. The grounds here are quite impressive and the large accommodations for families made it extremely comfortable for our family of four. We enjoyed staying at the resort, but also LOVED exploring. The restaurant on property was amazing, but we also loved Blue Water Grill (sushi nights are a must!), The Truck Stop, and Palapa Bar & Grill. Another must-do while staying on the island is visiting Secret Beach and spending the entire day here. The water is extremely calm (making it perfect for littles) and there are so many fun bars and restaurants. If you are looking for another pool option other than where you are staying, The Truck Stop has a pool that my kids loved. We visited two times during our 6-day stay and spent the entire afternoon both times.

Here are a few other recommendations on places to visit while on the island: Iguana Eco Sanctuary (amazing!), Belize Chocolate Company, Ramon’s Village, and NautiCrab Bar hermit crab races. You cannot forget about excursions while visiting. A must-do while on the island is visiting Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley (the kids LOVED seeing all of the sharks). We also went spear fishing and the restaurant at Victoria House even cooked our fresh seafood that my husband caught! Belize is an amazing destination for families or couples, and I highly recommend it to those who enjoy relaxing and exploring.
