Turning natural skills into big earnings
Jenn King was always the go-to travel planner, for both friends and family. She meticulously ironed out every detail and made sure all went seamlessly.
“That is definitely my favorite thing: to bring the whole package to people,” she said. “I've always done that in my real life. Planning things from top to bottom, that's kind of my happy place.”
She’d joined a local travel agency in Genoa, Nevada, where she lives, to earn commission on trips she planned for her inner circle. Then she learned about Fora from a family member.
“Fora gave me the tools I didn't even know I was missing,” she said. “Since then, I've not only provided a better, more efficient product to my clients—and a way more fabulous trip and experience—but I've also been rewarded tenfold by the opportunities that have come to me.”
Saving time and increasing bookings with Portal
Jenn started with small hotel bookings on Portal, Fora’s integrated platform, to “get my feet wet.” But Portal proved instrumental to scaling her business via higher-value, more lucrative bookings—those that went beyond hotels. For one, using the platform drastically cut her research time spent on both hotel and non-hotel suppliers.
“Before, I would blind Google for transportation companies or tours. Portal takes that stress out of it for me,” she said. “Now my search engine is Fora’s Portal. The ease of use and information on what I could bring to my clients—all the perks or deals and steals they maybe can't get online—helped drive my volume.”
Fora's Portal makes booking and tracking trips seamless
Fora's integrated platform proved instrumental to scaling Jenn's business. In one place, advisors can make bookings, create itineraries, and store client details, plus track commission payments.

Jenn also valued the reassurance of sourcing vetted recommendations from Fora's in-house team and fellow advisors through the online community.
“Portal has all the tools I need to create the top-to-bottom package, from departure to arrival,” she said.
How one referral helped her scale
Jenn had planned an anniversary trip to Italy for two friends (who had especially refined taste). The trip stretched her comfort zone: It required numerous moving parts, various transfers, and ferries. The couple was blown away.
“They were literally sending me photos during their trip of the welcome amenities and the notes that I left them and the bottles of Champagne,” she said. “In talking with them afterwards, he was so complimentary. He practically had tears in his eyes. It became such a special trip for them.”
The couple referred Jenn to one of their friends, who became Jenn’s first client outside of her inner circle. She worked on a family trip to the Bahamas for them (“That was literally the best trip my family's ever taken in their life,” the client told her), as well as a family trip to Italy. Both trips involved more logistics and more moving parts compared to what she was used to: even more transfers, flights, and working with a destination management company (DMC). With each booking leading to so much effusive feedback, she quickly gained the confidence she needed to book even bigger, more complex trips. An “unexpected referral system” was born.
Building the confidence to go bigger
Jenn had an innate ability to plan trips well, but she leaned on Fora’s community to help refine her approach. She has leveraged Fora’s WhatsApp group chats, our community app Forum, FAM trip opportunities, and the wisdom of fellow advisors.
“Tapping into my resources that way has saved me time and allowed me to take on more clients,” she said, “because I'm not blind searching for properties, areas, where to stay, or what to do in such and such location,” adding how such resources, especially FAM trips, confer a certain “street cred.”
Tapping into my resources has saved me time and allowed me to take on more clients because I'm not blind searching for properties.

She traveled to Africa on a safari FAM hosted by one of our partners. This trip made her fall in love with Africa—and with planning safaris. After people saw that she’d “been there, done that,” they reached out for help booking their own safari adventures.
“I love booking safaris because they're packaged,” Jenn said. “If you book a trip like that for someone, they're going to remember you. They're going to remember because it's a safari, but also because of how seamless you made it.”
Scaling her business so significantly was a natural evolution of her skills, compounded by Fora’s resources and community. The seemingly daunting, 360-degree bookings no longer seemed that daunting.
“It's a big uncomfortable zone for most people,” Jenn said. “But it's become my happy place, filling in the blanks and connecting all the dots so when you arrive, it's seamless.”
