A Local’s Guide to a Weekend in Condado

Distrito T-Mobile

If you're looking for a fun night out with options for everyone, Distrito T-Mobile is worth adding to your itinerary. Whether you want dinner, live music, drinks, a concert, a movie, or even a zipline, it's one of the best places to spend an evening without having to hop between multiple locations.

Escambrón Beach

Escambrón is one of my favorite beaches in the San Juan area because it's beautiful, easy to get to, and usually has calmer water than many nearby beaches. It's a great spot to spend a few hours swimming, relaxing, or simply enjoying the view without leaving the city, and it’s right between Old San Juan and Condado.

Speaking of Escambrón, if you've ever wanted to try snorkeling, Escambrón is one of the best places to do it. The protected waters make it beginner-friendly, and there's a good chance you'll see colorful tropical fish and other marine life just a short swim from shore.

Visit Old San Juan

You really can't visit Puerto Rico without spending time in Old San Juan. Between the colorful streets, historic forts, local shops, cafés, and ocean views, it's one of those places I never get tired of exploring. I recommend giving yourself plenty of time because you'll want to wander.

Ron del Barrilito distillery tour

Even if you're not a big rum drinker, I think this tour is worth doing. You'll learn about the history of Puerto Rico's oldest rum, see how it's produced, and, of course, enjoy a tasting. It's a great way to experience an important part of the island's history and culture.

Chinchorreando

If you want to experience Puerto Rico beyond the tourist attractions, I highly recommend experiencing a chinchorreo. It's a fun way to explore the island by hopping between local roadside food spots, trying authentic Puerto Rican food, listening to music, and soaking up the culture with locals.

El Yunque National Forest

El Yunque is one of those places that reminds you just how beautiful Puerto Rico is. From waterfalls and scenic overlooks to lush rainforest trails, it's a must-see if you're visiting the island. If you don't want to plan everything yourself, I recommend booking a guided tour so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Dos Lobos Empanada Bar (Condado)

If you're looking for a quick, casual bite, Dos Lobos is one of my favorite lunch spots. The empanadas are flavorful, the menu has plenty of variety, and it's an easy place to stop after a beach day or while exploring Condado.

Tavola Condado Trattoria Local

Cuisine: Italian

Tavola is one of my favorite spots for Italian food in Condado. The food and cocktails are incredible, and the best part, there's a speakeasy inside! Book your reservation for the speakeasy for a unique and vibey experience.

Levant by Chef Michael White

Cuisine: Mediterranean

If you're celebrating something special or simply want an elevated dining experience, Levant is worth the splurge. The food, service, and waterfront setting inside a unique, shell-shaped restaurant make it one of the most memorable meals I've had on the island.

Barista Squared (Condado)

Cuisine: Specialty coffee & café

If I want a really good cup of coffee without the wait, Barista Squared is one of my go-to spots in Condado. They serve excellent Puerto Rican coffee, the lattes are consistently great, and it's an easy stop whether you're grabbing breakfast, getting some work done, or fueling up before exploring the neighborhood.

Cocina Abierta

Cuisine: Contemporary international / fusion

Cocina Abierta is one of my favorite restaurants for a special night out in Condado. Their menu blends flavors and techniques from around the world, so every dish feels creative without being overly complicated. If you enjoy trying something a little different and appreciate beautifully executed food, this is a spot that's absolutely worth the reservation.

The Coffee

Cuisine: Specialty coffee

If you appreciate a minimalist coffee shop with really good coffee, you'll love The Coffee. It's inspired by Japanese simplicity, making it the perfect spot to grab a matcha or specialty latte before a walk through Condado or a morning by the beach.

Anita Gelato

Cuisine: Italian gelato & desserts

Anita is my favorite place to satisfy a sweet craving after dinner or a walk down Ashford Avenue. With over 150 rotating flavors, there's always something new to try, but I almost always end up ordering the Strawberry Mascarpone & Ricotta. It's the perfect balance of creamy, fruity, and indulgent, and it's easily my favorite flavor on the menu.

La Coffetera

Cuisine: Specialty coffee & brunch café

If you're a coffee lover, La Coffetera is a must. Their specialty coffee is consistently some of my favorite on the island, and it's the kind of place where I actually look forward to lingering over my drink. The brunch is excellent too, but for me, the coffee is what keeps me coming back.

LasDos Fridas Steakhouse

LasDos Fridas is much more than a steakhouse. It's an immersive dining experience where incredible steaks, art, music, and interactive table projections come together to tell the story of Frida Kahlo. If you're looking for a memorable night out that's as much about the experience as it is the food, this is one of the most unique restaurants in Puerto Rico.
