Things to do in the New Forest

Stonehenge, England. Only 50 minutes from Brockenhurst.
Walking & hiking
The New Forest is home to some of England’s most beautiful national parks and over 140 miles of trails.
Cycling
It is a relatively flat area in the south of England and perfect for a cycle. You can bring your own bike or hire one from the many local centers. A popular route is the Old Railway route, which is a great option for a family bike ride.
Hurst Castle
A coastal fortress built by Henry VIII, located at the end of a long shingle spit. You can explore the historic site and enjoy incredible views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight.
Boating
Being on the coastline of England and with many lakes here, you can enjoy river cruises on the Beaulieu River, canoeing and kayaking on the Beaulieu River and other waterways, and boat hire in areas like Lymington.
Stonehenge
It is approximately 1-hour drive from Brockenhurst. A must-see if you are in this part of the country. It is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, consisting of a ring of massive upright stones arranged in two concentric circles, built between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago.

A very local 25 mile menu and kitchen garden produce is what they serve.that changes daily. It’s a rustic dining experience where simple, garden-to-table dishes are served in a charming and welcoming atmosphere.
Dynasty Indian, Brockenhurst
A local Indian restaurant in the beautiful village of Brockenhurst. It is well-established and popular with an extensive menu of traditional Indian dishes that are prepared with fresh ingredients and a blend of authentic spices.
Hare & Hounds, Sway
A traditional English Pub with a family-friendly atmosphere and outdoor kids playground. Enjoyable home-cooked British food. A standout feature is their highly-regarded Sunday roast, which is often cited as one of the best in the New Forest.
The Terrace Restaurant at The Montagu Arms, Beaulieu
This multi-award-winning restaurant holds three AA Rosettes and is known for its elegant, “forest-to-fork” dining. The menu is crafted around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, many of which come from the hotel's own kitchen garden.
The Old Station Tea Rooms, Holmsley
A charming spot located in a former railway station on a popular cycle and walking path. It's known for its generous portions, wide range of home-cooked food, and tempting cakes.
Need to know
The easiest way to get to the New Forest is a direct train from London to Brockenhurst.
If you need a rental car, you can pick one up from Southampton.
It is an amazing place to stay pre- or post-cruise from Southampton.
