Things to do in Rome

A Vespa tour is a unique way to see the city and feel all the vibes.

  • Indulge in the obligatory coin toss and photo op at the Trevi Fountain. (Tip: Avoid the crowd by going early in the morning.)

  • Book a small-group tour of the Colosseum that has VIP floor access as this is a truly unique perspective.

  • Take a sunset Vespa tour of the city’s highlights. Don’t worry—no driving experience required as each Vespa comes with your very own driver so that you can soak in the scenery.

  • Take a self-paced journey through the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. (Tip: Purchase front-of-the-line tickets—they are worth every penny!)

  • Take a stroll along the Tiber River, soaking in the views, vendors, and several opportunities for an Aperol Spritz.

  • Discover the hidden gem that is the Trastevere neighborhood with sun-dappled cobblestone streets, 12th century mosaics, and lively piazzas. (Tip: This neighborhood is lively with dancing and music after 9 pm.)

Places to eat & drink in Rome

La Romana gelato—so YUM!

  • Taverna Trilussa: Celebrated for its inviting ambiance in the heart of Trastevere neighborhood and praised for its authentic classic Roman dishes, notably pastas. Definitely order one of the truffle pastas served in their famous cast iron skillet.

  • Pizzeria Ai Marmi: Where the locals come to eat pizza, this casual eatery will likely have a wait if you don’t go early.

  • Gelateria La Romana: High-quality traditional flavors, this gelato is the real deal, made daily and it is an experience. (Insider tip: Gelato stored in deep steel containers is the real deal!)

  • Il Sorpasso: Ideal for either lunch or dinner and located close to the Vatican, serving up creative and authentic dishes, with warm service. Definitely try their unbelievable selection of meats and cheeses.

  • All’antico Vinaio: This legendary Florentine sandwich shop is worth the line. Serving up huge shareable bites on freshly baked Tuscan schiacciata with layers of silky prosciutto, tangy pecorino, truffle spreads, and more.

Need to know

  • Book your tours in advance for famous sites, as Rome always seems to be busy. Purchase skip-the-line tickets for the Vatican to avoid spending half of your day in line.

  • Wear comfortable shoes as walking is abundant.

  • The drinking water around the city is plentiful, safe, and refreshing!

  • Ubers and taxis are abundant in the city. We preferred to use Ubers as there were five of us, and you know the cost is fair and associated with your distance of travel.
