Curator’s statement
Need a break from Santiago’s nonstop buzz? Just hop in the car, and in about two hours, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Chilean wine country: the Colchagua Valley. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, the scenery stuns, and the wine flows (generously). One of the best parts? Most vineyards here let you wander through the vines at your own pace—no fences, no fuss. Colchagua is all about laid-back vibes, friendly faces, and bold reds like Carménère and Syrah, or crisp rosés and bright Sauvignon Blancs if those are what you fancy. Besides the wines, amazing food can also be found at some of these wineries!

Viña Viu Manent
San Pedro Cachapoal Andes Wine
Founded in 1865, San Pedro is one of the most recognized and iconic wineries in Chile. Nestled in the stunning foothills of the Andes, their Cachapoal Andes location is a perfect first stop on the way to Colchalgua from Santiago.
The winery offers different tours where you can explore the grounds, dive into the winemaking process, and soak in the scenery. You can also grab a picnic basket packed with wine and goodies, then find your perfect spot among the vines to sip and snack in peace.
If you’re looking to treat yourself, don’t miss the sit-down four-course lunch. Think fresh, local ingredients, sizzling BBQ, and perfectly paired wines, all served with sweeping views of the Cachapoal Valley.
Viña Montes
Viña Montes is a standout for its dedication to sustainable viticulture and striking architectural design. The winery uses a gravity-flow system to gently move grapes during production, reducing the need for pumps and preserving the integrity of the fruit. Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and perfectly manicured vines, the setting is as beautiful as it is tranquil.
Visitors can choose from a variety of private or group tours that showcase the winemaking process and the estate’s unique features. And when it comes to tastings? The pours are generous, so come thirsty!
Viña Viu Manent
Founded in 1935 by the Viu family, Viu Manet is a family-owned winery now in its third generation. Located in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, this estate oozes charm and history. Visitors can visit the grounds through horse-drawn carriages, bike tours or visit the wine cellars and experience the winery’s signature varietals. There is also an excellent restaurant on site, with both cozy indoor seating and a shaded outdoor terrace surrounded by vineyards, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the scenery. Be sure to make a reservation in advance!
