Curator’s statement
Istanbul completely captured me—it’s one of those cities where history hums beneath your feet, yet modern luxury feels effortless. I still remember stepping out of my hammam with that post-steam glow, sipping Turkish tea as the Bosphorus shimmered in the distance. Between rooftop views, the scent of roasted chestnuts, and boutique wellness spaces tucked behind historic facades, Istanbul feels alive in every sense. Whether you’re exploring Ottoman palaces or finding balance through a spa day in Bebek, the city invites transformation at every turn.

Things to do in Istanbul

Experience a Traditional Turkish Hammam: Step into the centuries-old ritual at Kilic Ali Pasa Hamam, my favorite for its candlelit domes and marble interiors. Arrive early for tea in the lounge and let the attendants lead you through a full-body steam and scrub—you’ll leave feeling renewed, inside and out.
Sail the Bosphorus by Private Yacht: It’s impossible not to fall in love with Istanbul from the water. Charter a private yacht at sunset and glide between continents—I love bringing a bottle of local rosé and Turkish delights to snack on while the mosques light up one by one.
Shop the Grand Bazaar Mindfully: The Grand Bazaar can be overwhelming, so I always tell clients to go early, walk slowly, and talk to the artisans. The hand-painted ceramics and vintage jewelry stalls in the quieter back alleys often have the best finds.
Visit Topkapi Palace: There’s something grounding about standing in the courtyard where the sultans once ruled. Go early to avoid the crowds and step into the Harem—the tilework is extraordinary and often missed by rushed tour groups.
Savor Sunset at Galata Tower: Climb just before golden hour and stay for the call to prayer—it’s a moment that gives me goosebumps every time. There’s a little café nearby perfect for a nightcap afterward.
Wellness Retreat Day in Nişantaşı or Bebek: For a modern twist, I spend a day at luxury clinics like The LifeCo or Ulus Clinic for vitamin infusions and LED facials, followed by a stroll through Nişantaşı’s designer boutiques. It’s Istanbul’s version of self-care done right.
Places to eat & drink in Istanbul

Sunset Grill & Bar: My favorite for golden hour—Mediterranean meets Asian flavors with panoramic Bosphorus views. Order the tuna tartare and linger for the skyline glow.
Ulus 29: Stylish yet warm—I love coming here when I want to dress up and people-watch. Ask for a terrace table. Locals come late and the DJ keeps it lively.
Tugra Restaurant (Çırağan Palace): If you love romantic fine dining, this is unforgettable. Set inside an Ottoman palace, Tugra pairs candlelight with traditional recipes. Order the testi kebab—it’s dramatic and delicious.
Namli Gurme: My go-to brunch spot. I can never resist their meze platters and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. Perfect before a stroll through Karaköy.
Need to know
Istanbul is surprisingly easy to navigate for international travelers—most luxury hotels provide airport transfers, and English is widely spoken. I always suggest arriving mid-week to skip local weekend crowds. For those seeking medical or wellness treatments, you’ll find JCI-accredited hospitals and English-speaking staff throughout the city. Spring and fall are perfect for mild weather and fewer tourists, and if time allows, combine your visit with a few restorative days in Cappadocia—the cave spas there are a hidden gem.
