In just a short stay, I learned more about wine than I ever expected, such as how terroir shapes character, how small producers craft with intention, and how each bottle tells a story of place. The fantastic restaurants really make Beaune a special place, from traditional French cuisine to inventive modern fare. Schedule a guided wine tour of Burgundy while you’re in Beaune—it’s the most immersive way to understand the region’s terroir and winemaking traditions. You can explore the vineyards by bike for a scenic, relaxed route or by car to easily reach more distant villages and estates. We visited Marchand-Tawse, explored Pommard, and even stopped by the legendary Romanée-Conti vineyard, home to some of the most coveted (and expensive!) wines in the world.
