Curator’s statement
My recent trip to Austria and Germany was one of those experiences that completely changes your perception of a destination. Vienna surprised me most: effortlessly chic, impeccably clean, and buzzing with a fashion and food scene I never expected. The shopping alone was a revelation. Munich carried that same confident energy—stylish, sophisticated, and far more cosmopolitan than I had anticipated. Salzburg and the surrounding lake district are in a different category entirely. The lakes are a stunning shade of blue-green, the Alps are snow-capped, and each village is more charming than the last. Together, these three destinations make for one of Europe's most underrated luxury itineraries—and one I now recommend without hesitation.

Things to do in Vienna, Salzburg & Munich

The Hofburg Palace
Vienna
Hofburg Palace: This is one of Vienna’s most impressive landmarks and was the winter residence of the Habsburgs. I recommend visiting the Imperial Treasury to see the crown jewels.
Amicis: A beautifully curated boutique featuring brands like Khaite, Missoni, The Row, and Chloe.
Salzburg
Hohensalzburg Fortress: Looming over the city, this massive 11th-century fortress is one of the largest in Europe. You can walk up or take the funicular for sweeping panoramic views of the city and the Alps.
Hallstatt: I suggest a day trip to this lakeside town, which many say was the inspiration for Disney’s Frozen. Be sure to pick up some salt from the local salt mine.
Munich
Viktualienmarkt: This large outdoor marketplace is great to visit on weekends for fresh flowers and its large beer garden.
Eisbach Wave: You can watch surfers ride this river wave located on the southern edge of the English Garden in the city center.
Lodenfrey: A renowned luxury department store carrying high-end designers. There is a Ralph Lauren attached with a Ralph’s Coffee for a quick break while shopping.
Places to eat & drink in Vienna, Salzburg & Munich

Truffle pizza at Rocco Riviera
Vienna
Rooftop at Rosewood Vienna: Great for drinks with a view.
Fabios: A must-visit for a buzzy scene and delicious food. The lasagna is highly recommended, and the outdoor seating is perfect for the central shopping area.
Zum Schwarzen Kameel: Ideal for a leisurely lunch and people-watching in the heart of the shopping district. It's a local favorite for afternoon spritzes.
Demel: A charming café famous for its decadent, unique style of pancakes. They offer both indoor/outdoor seating and a convenient to-go window.
Salzburg
Stiftsbäckerei St. Peter: The city’s oldest bakery. Be sure to try their traditional wood-oven bread.
Rosewood Schloss Fuschl: Visit the Schloss Bar, located in a 15th-century castle, for excellent cocktails. I also recommend lunch on the terrace at Seeterrasse. If you are visiting in July or August, the Lake Club is a must.
Munich
Rocco Riviera: A chic spot for seafood and truffle pizza. It is great for a long lunch or a lively dinner with a DJ.
Bar Montez (Rosewood Munich): A stylish bar with a Gatsby vibe and live music.
Viktualienmarkt Beer Garden: An authentic Bavarian experience right in the center of Munich.
