Things to do in Morocco

The sunset from the dunes of the Sahra desert
Casablanca
In Casablanca, I explored the vibrant medina, a maze of narrow streets bustling with local shops and cafés. The highlight was visiting the Hassan II Mosque, the world’s third-largest. Its stunning architecture and intricate tile work left me in awe, and I loved joining a guided tour, the only way to visit it, to learn about its cultural significance.
Fez
My experience in Fez took me through the ancient medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its medieval charm. I visited a traditional leather factory, witnessing the craft of leather-making and finding beautiful handmade goods in the lively souks, brimming with the scent of spices.
Ait Ben Haddou
Ait Ben Haddou, a picturesque kasbah, showcased stunning earthen architecture against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. Even though it’s under repair, it remains a popular filming location for movies like “Gladiator,” allowing me to appreciate its historical importance.
Merzouga
In Merzouga, I experienced an amazing camel ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert. The sunset over the vast landscape was breathtaking, creating a serene and beautiful atmosphere.
Volubilis
I visited Volubilis, an archaeological site noted for its well-preserved Roman ruins. Walking among intricate mosaics and ancient temples, I marveled at the historical significance of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
Marrakech
In Marrakech, I admired the Bahia Palace, with its beautiful gardens and ornate architecture, before diving into the bustling medina filled with colorful souks, artisan crafts, and delicious street food. The lively atmosphere and vibrant culture made it an unforgettable experience.
Places to eat & drink in Morocco

El Patro, Casablanca: Finding a place that serves cocktails in Casablanca can be hard, and this was one of our favorites.
Al Fassia Restaurant, Fes: Great Moroccan food that includes a show, including belly dancers.
Bistrot La Saveur, Marrakech: Incredible food and cocktails with great ambiance.
The Full Sun Ouarzazate: Great little restaurant located near Atlas Studios. Features photos of actors who have worked on movies at Atlas Studios and have eaten at the restaurant.
Need to know
When shopping in the medina, bargaining is expected, so always start at about a third of the price since the vendors have almost doubled what they are expecting to get.
