Curator’s statement
There are destinations you enjoy once, and others that quietly invite you to return. Toledo has become one of those places for me. Over the years, every visit has revealed a different side of the city. Beyond its extraordinary history and remarkable monuments, I've discovered peaceful viewpoints overlooking the Tagus River, unforgettable meals shared without rushing, charming cigarrales, and unexpected cultural experiences. While Toledo is often promoted as an easy day trip from Madrid, I believe staying at least two nights allows you to experience not only its remarkable historic center, but also the quieter landscapes, panoramic views, exceptional gastronomy, and slower rhythm that make Toledo one of Spain's most rewarding destinations. Give Toledo the time it deserves.

Things to do in Toledo

Museo Cromática reveals one of Toledo's most unexpected cultural experiences: musical instruments transformed into original works of art.
Wander through Toledo's historic center
One of my favorite ways to experience Toledo is simply walking without a plan. Some of my best discoveries have come from wandering its quiet streets rather than following a sightseeing checklist.
Visit Toledo's iconic landmarks
Toledo's iconic landmarks deserve to be experienced at a relaxed pace rather than rushed through. I especially enjoy walking between the Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, and Plaza de Zocodover, letting the city reveal itself along the way.
Experience Toledo's gastronomy
One of the reasons I always stay overnight in Toledo is its outstanding dining scene. Taking time to enjoy lunch or dinner without rushing has become an essential part of every visit.
Discover the cigarrales
Crossing the Tagus to explore Toledo's cigarrales is something I always recommend. They offer a quieter atmosphere and some of the city's most beautiful panoramic views.
Visit Museo Cromática
Museo Cromática completely exceeded my expectations. Seeing musical instruments transformed into works of art—including an original Picasso—made it one of Toledo's most memorable discoveries.
Experience Toledo after sunset
After sunset, Toledo feels like a different city. Walking through its illuminated cobblestone streets, it's easy to imagine what life was like within these medieval walls centuries ago.
Explore the panoramic viewpoints
Some of my favorite views of Toledo are actually across the Tagus River. Watching the city rise above the valley is an experience I never skip.
Spend a day at Puy du Fou España
Puy du Fou España is widely regarded as one of Spain's most remarkable historical experiences. I would recommend setting aside a full day to enjoy it as the perfect complement to visiting Toledo.
Places to eat & drink in Toledo

I love enjoying the extraordinary views over the historic city of Toledo from La Ermitaña's panoramic dining room, perched above one of the city’s most scenic overlooks.
Historic center
La Taberna de Botero is one of my favorite dining experiences in Toledo. I always recommend the seasonal tasting menu and the croquette tasting, with each course personally introduced before the chef greets guests at the end of the meal.
Alfileritos 24 is my favorite place to discover Toledo's traditional game cuisine. I highly recommend the venison medallions or the marinated wild boar loin, two local specialties prepared with a Toledan touch.
La Cave offers two completely different experiences under one medieval roof. I recommend the fried cheese with toffee sauce if you're stopping for tapas, or the gourmet venison burger if you're planning a full meal.
Cervecería La Abadía is worth visiting as much for its atmosphere as for its food. Its medieval-inspired setting is an experience in itself, and I always recommend sampling one of its excellent craft beers.
Beyond the historic walls
Hierbabuena combines exceptional cuisine with one of my favorite panoramic views of Toledo. I highly recommend the deer chops with corn cream while enjoying the spectacular terrace overlooking the historic city.
La Ermitaña offers another unforgettable perspective of Toledo, with stunning views of the Alcázar, Cathedral, and Tagus River. My favorite dish is the braised beef cheeks, prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
