Things to do in Croatia and Montenegro

Tour of Kotor and Perast towns in Montenegro with a visit to Our Lady of The Rocks: There is so much to see and do in the Bay of Kotor. Doing a tour of Kotor town, Perast Town, and the iconic Our Lady of the Rocks is a great way to spend a day in Montenegro. Reach out to me for tour details—I can help you find the perfect one!
Dubrovnik’s Old Town: Dubrovnik is becoming touristy, so you do want some guidance on the best time to go. But visiting Dubrovnik’s Old Town is a must! Especially if you can sneak it in when it’s not as crowded. It’s one of the most iconic places in Croatia, where hundreds of years of history fill each little cobblestone street. Wander around yourself or join a walking tour. You can even join a Game of Thrones tour if you are a fan.
Find a balcony in Dubrovnik: Dubrovnik is a hilly city. Not only will your legs get a workout, but you will also have the opportunity to find spectacular Adriatic views (with islands sprinkled in the water). I highly recommend accommodation that gives you a balcony overlooking the water. An experience all on it’s own while in Croatia is sipping on wine on your balcony as the sun sets.
Authentic cooking class in Split: Split is a great place to soak in some of the culture of Croatia and the Balkans. I can recommend a couple classes for you if you would like! Imagine spending your afternoon getting to know someone and their family, learning to cook traditional Croatian dishes, and making new friends? It’s a must-do while doing a Croatia and Montenegro Honeymoon.
Bicycle Tour (or rental) in Split: Split is more sprawling as a city than other places in Croatia. Marjan Park is located outside of the city center of Split. An e-bike tour (or renting e-bikes) is a great way to explore more of the city, get a little exercise, and sit in aww at the beautiful park. Bonus if you can jump into the Adriatic while on your tour!
Ferry ride to an island: Ferry rides to the Croatian islands are often a lovely experience on their own (although sometimes there can be choppy weather). Split is a great place to base yourself to explore the islands.
Explore Hvar: Hvar is another destination that’s becoming very popular. It’s also a hot-spot for nightlife. But, it is well worth the visit. I can give you some recommendations on how to avoid the crowds or what time of year to travel. It’s popular for a reason! The old town of Hvar is right on the ocean, with some fantastic food, and you don’t need to go far at all to jump in the ocean or find a beach to relax at.
Wine tasting in Hvar: While in Croatia, you must try some wine! The climate of the region means excellent grapes and lots of wine varieties. Hvar is a great place to do a wine tasting and island tour (all in one!).
Mljet National Park: While not as popular, Mljet is worth a visit. As an island on it’s own, it’s also home to Mljet National Park. You don’t have to be an outdoor enthusiast to enjoy the island. If anything, you will find quaint, quiet, relaxing accommodation where you can sit for hours listening to the water.
Places to eat & drink in Croatia and Montenegro

Taj Mahal in Dubrovnik: Taj Mahal is an excellent restaurant choice in Dubrovnik. While the name sounds like you might be eating Indian food (yum!), you’ll be enjoying traditional Bosnian cuisine. There are two locations, including one in the Old Town, for your convenience.
Gradska Kavana Arsenal in Dubrovnik: Gradska Kavana Arsenal is located in the Old Town—it’s a great restaurant to enjoy the end of your day while you eat delicious food, sip on some Croatian wine, and people watch as the sun goes down.
Cicibela Wine Bar in Split: There are several pedestrian-only zones in Split. These areas are wonderful to explore for food! You will find Cicibela Food and Wine Bar, where you can enjoy a romantic, quaint dinner in a narrow cobblestone street.
Paradise Garden in Hvar: Paradise Garden is a honeymoon-must while in Hvar. It’s a little restaurant on a back patio/garden. It’s a great place to enjoy delicious food while you catch up and process the day with your new spouse.
Cevapi for a local Balkan dish: You will probably notice a lot of gnocchi, pasta, and seafood while in Croatia and Montenegro. One dish you must try while visiting these two countries is cevapi (pronounced “chuh-vahh-pee”). It’s roasted meat and onions on freshly cooked pita. It might sound simple, but don’t let that fool you. It’s delicious and makes a great (and often affordable) lunch dish. Find cevapi at cafes, bakeries, or restaurants!
