Things to do in Las Vegas
Outdoor adventure:
Red Rock Canyon: Just a 30-minute drive from the constant sound of slot machines is silence and serenity. Take the 13-mile scenic drive or climb the rust-colored rocks for a gorgeous view of the Las Vegas Strip and the entire valley.
Mt. Charleston: Want to go even higher? Check out Mt. Charleston, just a 45-minute drive from the Strip. The mountain is snow-capped for the majority of the year and there's even a ski resort. Be prepared for a noticeable temperature difference — you can easily go from tank top and shorts on the valley floor to needing a sweater within an hour!
Grand Canyon via Helicopter: If that's still not high enough, how about going up, up and away to the Grand Canyon in a helicopter tour? It is the best way to see this majestic beauty from above and from the canyon floor. I highly recommend this tour with a champagne toast at the landing site.
Arts & entertainment:
Sphere: I saw U2 here live in December 2023 and it was the most amazing concert experience I've ever had. Check out the immersive concert film that's playing our see a live performance. The venue is unlike anywhere else you've ever been.
Neon Museum: Much of Las Vegas's history has been imploded, but, fortunately, many of the iconic neon signs have been preserved for you to check out here. Great selfie and photo opp!
Ka by Cirque du Soleil: This is one of the older Cirque shows, but it is a goodie. The theater itself is gorgeous and you'll be speechless by the acrobatics on display throughout the show.
Places to eat & drink in Las Vegas
Lotus of Siam: This is some of the best Thai food I've ever had with a very extensive menu, not far off the Strip.
Hash House a Go-Go: Order one meal and it will fill you up for the entire day. The large portions don't skimp on quality. There are a few locations in hotel-casinos, but if you have a car, I recommend taking the drive to the location on West Sahara.
Mon Ami Gabi: If you want to people watch on the sidewalks of the Strip, this is the best place to do it while you have a boozy brunch. I highly recommend splurging on a carafe of Le Spritz with St. Germain. It is light and refreshing if you are getting your day drinking on.
Firefly: This local staple for the past 20+ years is a favorite for a social meal of shared tapas and fun, fruity drinks.
Battista's Hole in the Wall: Not the most glamorous of places, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal for your money. The family-like atmosphere is contagious and the house wine that's included with the meal will ensure everyone has a great time.
China Poblano: The menu is really unexpected with the fusion of foods from China and Mexico. The chef's experience is a great way to try something new that will dazzle your tastebuds.
The Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay: This is a great place to get cocktails as the sun sets, with what I think is the best view of the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip.
