Advisor - Inside the Heart of Japan: Tokyo
Curator’s statement

Tokyo is a popular travel destination and for good reason, as there is a plethora of options for whatever kind of traveler you are. For me, that was Japanese sports cars, Samurai training, mountain climbing, and more, but there's so much to explore regarding food, architecture, and beyond. If you can stomach the very long flight, the "biggest city in the world" is a beautiful place to immerse yourself in a whole different culture and create a wonderful trip.

Need to know

Tokyo is a very modern city featuring everything the mind could think of. Your credit card will work pretty much everywhere, but it's a good idea to have a bit of cash for transportation, small shops, and food carts. Although many signs have English and some people speak it, have a translation app ready to go such as Papago. Further, Google Maps works like a charm here, especially if you'd like to venture onto public transport—it shows you every route. People do not jaywalk here, so follow the lights when walking down streets. Finally, one important thing to keep in mind is that Tokyo is huge, so plan out the main things you'd like to do and factor in transportation time. As long as you're prepared, this city makes for an awesome time and can seem like a whole other world.
