Advisor - Solo Trip to Vietnam: 3-Day Itinerary
Curator’s statement

Ho Chi Minh City feels like a dream you’ve been chasing—then suddenly, you’re in it. The city glows at night with endless lights, busy streets, and an energy that never fades. What truly stayed with me, though, was the people—always welcoming with a smile. This was always on my bucket list, and I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation.

Day 1: Underground stories & nights on the water

Cu Chi Tunnels tour

First step into Vietnam’s history with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels—an underground network used during the war that’s both fascinating and humbling. You’ll crawl through narrow tunnels, see hidden entrances and traps, and truly get a sense of the resilience of the Vietnamese people during a difficult period in history. It’s an eye-opening experience that adds so much depth to your time in the city. Before the tour ends, sample scorpion-infused alcohol and take a ride on the longboat.

Dinner and Saigon River cruise

End the night with a sightseeing boat tour along the Saigon River while you eat a delicious dinner. You get to enjoy music, get views of the skyline, and dance the night away. Tau Bến Nghé tends to attract a slightly older crowd, while Du Thuyền Bến Nghé / Indochina Queen—style cruises are typically more lively and popular with a younger crowd—perfect if you’re looking for more of a vibe.

Day 2: Picture-perfect, wildlife & nightlife

Starry Sky Art Museum

Into the lights: Starry Sky Museum

Start your morning at the Starry Sky Art Museum to take stunning, immersive photos before the crowds arrive. Each room feels like stepping into a different world. For solo travellers, don’t forget your tripod—you’ll want your camera ready at all times! You can also stop by the Saigon 360° Skydeck before you leave for panoramic views of the city.

Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens

In the afternoon, visit the Saigon Zoo—one of my absolute favourite experiences. It’s such a fun space, perfect for a relaxed walk while seeing a wide variety of animals, like gemsbok or deers-which you can feed. Before you go, don’t miss the elephants—they’re definitely a highlight and make the visit even more memorable.

Night out at Lai La Nightclub

End the night at Lai La Nightclub, one of the most popular clubs in Ho Chi Minh City, known for its mix of R&B, pop, and hip-hop. The energy here is unmatched, but make sure to arrive early—lines can get extremely long, and waits after 10 PM can easily exceed two hours. Once you’re in, though, it’s worth it.

Day 3: Vung Tau Beach day

Jesus Christ Statue

Vung Tau Beach excursion

Take a day trip to Vung Tau for a rejuvenating escape from the city. Visit the iconic Jesus Christ statue and, if you’re up for it, climb to the shoulders—it’s an unforgettable feeling with panoramic views all around. Don’t forget to wear long pants and a top that covers your shoulders—it’s a sacred site. Then, head down to Thuy Van Beach to grab a coconut, relax and swim. It’s the kind of balance every trip needs—energy, then calm.

Need to know

  • Use the Grab app for transportation—it’s the easiest and most affordable option. If you’re riding motorbikes, wear a mask.

  • For excursions, hotel pick-ups are most convenient if you’re staying in Districts 1, 3, or 5.

  • Use your Grab points before you leave—you might even score a free ride to the airport.

  • At Ben Thanh Market, always start negotiating at about half the asking price.
