Day 1: Early hike, boat rental & ferry to and from Tegernsee

Tegernsee Brewery area
Stay at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, a luxurious three-Michelin Key hotel in Rottach-Egern, a quaint town filled with boutiques and restaurants, radiating Alpine charm. Start your day with an early hike—there are trails for all levels, each offering sweeping views of the lake and surrounding peaks. If you come across a Bavarian mountain hut, stop in for a traditional breakfast.
After your hike, rent a boat—options include electric and paddle boats—and explore the lake from the water. For lunch, head to Haubentaucher, a Michelin-starred restaurant with a stunning lakeside terrace. Spend the early afternoon strolling through Rottach-Egern’s shops (they have a mix of authentic souvenir stores and chic high-end retailers) before hopping on the ferry to Tegernsee.
In Tegernsee, enjoy ice cream from Eismanufaktur Tegernsee as you wander past charming Alpine buildings. Then, stop at the Tegernsee Bräustüberl, a lively beer hall, for a refreshing brew and a classic local experience. Next door, enjoy another drink at Schlosswirtschaft Tegernsee, with its scenic patio right on the water.
Take the ferry back to your hotel and unwind with dinner at one of the Seehotel’s excellent restaurants, which include Italian, regional German, and Michelin-starred fine dining. Afterward, sink into your plush bed—each room features a pillow menu and a private balcony with lake or mountain views.
Day 2: Relax at the hotel

Beach lounge at Seehotel
In the morning, savor the spectacular scenery from your balcony, then head to breakfast for an expansive Bavarian buffet. Before you leave, carve out time to visit the spa, which features a variety of saunas, steam rooms, and treatments. Don’t miss the hotel’s serene lakeside lounge—perfect for a quiet moment or a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear water.
