Torc in downtown Napa is a must for its locally sourced ingredients and global flavors. If you’re visiting during their white truffle season, don’t hesitate—the ricotta ravioli with white truffle is unforgettable.
Bouchon Bistro is a classic Thomas Keller gem with incredibly fresh dishes and an unbeatable wine list; oyster lovers have to order a dozen here.
Lovina in Calistoga is absolutely divine—whatever you do, don’t skip the bolognese.
For a laid-back meal in a beautiful outdoor courtyard, Charter Oak in St. Helena is perfect. Order the cheeseburger—you’ll thank me later.
Favorite places for wine tastings
Every winery on this list is a hidden gem—family-owned, off the beaten path, and perfect for an intimate tasting. There’s something special about sitting down with the people who make the wine, hearing their stories, and savoring their craft in a personal setting. These aren’t crowded tourist spots or gift-shop-focused tasting rooms—just small, carefully chosen wineries where you’re likely to leave with a new friend in Napa.
Buoncristiani is run by four brothers honoring their Italian winemaking heritage, including a nod to their grandfather with the “Old Pa Cuvee” (OPC).
Gamble Estates is tucked away so quietly that you’d never find it without a tip—its family farming roots date back to 1916.
Abiouness Wines is led by a talented winemaker whose knowledge and passion shine through in every bottle.
Vincent Arroyo in Calistoga is a charming family-run spot where even the dogs are part of the team—its story dates back to the 1970s, and it’s impossible to leave disappointed.
Need to know
Plan ahead to make the most of your Napa experience! Arrange for a driver who won’t be tasting so everyone can enjoy responsibly.
Reach out to wineries in advance—especially the smaller, family-run spots—since many share tasting spaces and require reservations.
Take your time and savor the valley: Aim for just two to three tastings a day, and don’t forget to explore the charming towns along the way. Pop into boutiques, chat with locals, and enjoy some delicious meals. Speaking of meals, always make dinner reservations, too. You don’t want to miss out on Napa’s amazing cuisine—it's next level!
