Curator’s statement
Jordan is the perfect getaway for an exotic, warm and historically packed trip. A visit to Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world and a Unesco world heritage site, is a must. However, there are many other places to see in between Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea. A five or six-day trip will allow you to experience them all, immersing yourself fully into Jordanian culture and life!

Day 1: Arrival

Ancient Roman columns at the Oval Forum in Jerash
Start your first day in Jordan with a tour of Amman. Take in the Blue Mosque, the Roman amphitheater and the Roman Citadel. Learn about all the different ancestries which shaped the area. Take a short drive north to visit the ancient city of Jerash. This is a beautifully preserved city from Roman times. It is well worth the extra time and you will get back to your hotel in time for a late afternoon swim or spa treatment, a perfect end to a busy day!
Day 2: Petra

The spectacular scenery and winding road near the Wadi Mujib Dam
Make your way to Petra with a local driver who will show you some beautiful stops along the way. They will probably recommend taking the King's Highway, with its spectacular scenery, to bring you to Mount Nebo (Moses' death place), St George's Church in Madaba (with its incredible ancient Greek mosaics) and the ancient Karak Castle. You can stop at a local bakery along the way and watch how they make their delicious flat bread! You will arrive in Petra around mid-afternoon, just in time for a swim or a visit to the Petra Museum, which is just by the Visitor's entrance to Petra.
Day 3: History in the mountains

The monastery in Petra.
Today is dedicated to uncovering the beauty of Petra. Start early if you can, around 7 am (don't worry about missing breakfast in your hotel. It will start early to accommodate this!) Enjoy the multiple discoveries along the way, from the hidden tombs in the mountains, to the treasury, amphitheater (the only one in the world carved into the rock) and monastery. Despite the many steps and kilometers, you will feel awed by the skills of the Nabateans and return to your hotel ready for a rest and a meal!
Day 4: The Dead Sea

Salt Beach, Dead Sea
Time to leave Petra and head to the Dead Sea, with its mineral and salt-rich properties. The drive will take you past incredible landscapes, from canyons to desert plains. On your approach to the Dead Sea, make sure to visit Salt Beach, with its white salt 'sand' and turquoise water. Settle in to your hotel and head down to the beach for your flotation experience and mud bath!
Day 5: Relaxation

Spa area at the Mövenpick Dead Sea
On your last day in Jordan, relax at your hotel's pool or head back to the beach for more mud packs and floats. The temperature here is about 10 C hotter than Amman, perfect for your well-earned relaxation! The drive back to Amman is a leisurely one hour, so you can leave anytime. As the airport is also approximately 1 hour away, you can choose to spend your last night here and head straight to the airport early the next day.
