Things to do in New Orleans

  • Ride the streetcar: Ride down historic St. Charles Avenue, taking in the sites of the beautiful oak trees, churches, universities, mansions, and parks.

  • Sazerac House: Free admission, interactive museum of the birthplace of America’s first cocktail, free tastings, in the heart of the city.

  • French Quarter Fest: Held annually during one weekend in April, largest free music festival in the South—and one of the most beloved local events in New Orleans. It transforms the historic French Quarter into a giant stage, celebrating the city’s music and food.

  • Jazz Fest: Held annually over two weekends, normally end of April/beginning of May, a world-renowned cultural celebration that blends music, food, and art into one unforgettable experience.

  • Mardi Gras: It’s an unforgettable experience—everyone should do it at least once.

  • Ride a riverboat: There are a few paddle-wheelers to choose from as well as times of day.
