Things to do in St. Louis, Missouri

This is what I mean when I say St. Louis will surprise you—the Cathedral Basilica is a hidden gem that literally takes your breath away the second you open the door.

Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis

This hidden gem will literally make your jaw drop the moment you step inside—the entire interior is covered in the most astounding mosaic tiles that create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The intricate artwork and shimmering details are absolutely breathtaking, and the best part? It’s completely free to explore, though donations are welcomed.

St. Joseph Church

A stunning example of beautiful architecture that showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail that makes St. Louis’ religious buildings so special. The elegant design and peaceful atmosphere make it worth adding to your church tour itinerary.

Gateway Arch

Even if you’ve seen it in countless photos, nothing prepares you for just how massive and impressive the Arch is in person. Standing beneath this 630-foot monument is truly awe-inspiring.

Anheuser-Busch Tour

This behind-the-scenes brewery experience gives you a fascinating look at how America’s most famous beer is made, complete with tastings and the chance to meet the legendary Budweiser Clydesdales—those magnificent horses are even more impressive up close.

Grant’s Farm

This unique farm visit combines history with modern entertainment, featuring everything from animal encounters to spectacular drone shows and live music performances. It’s an unexpectedly fun blend of traditional farm experience and cutting-edge entertainment.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre

This gorgeous 1920s-style theater provides the perfect setting for world-class performances like Hamilton. The ornate architecture and vintage glamour transport you back to the golden age of entertainment, making any show here feel extra special.

Union Station Hotel

Beyond being a beautiful historic hotel, Union Station offers mesmerizing fire and light shows that turn the grand hall into a magical entertainment venue. The combination of stunning architecture and spectacular visual displays creates an unforgettable evening experience.

Places to eat & drink in St. Louis, Missouri

This is why I hunt for unique restaurant experiences—sipping expertly crafted coffee surrounded by plants and natural light at Bowood feels like a secret garden escape.

The Train Shed Restaurant

When you’re dining at The Train Shed, you can’t help but feel the history around you—you’re literally eating where trains once departed from this magnificent Union Station. The contemporary menu and creative cocktails are fantastic, but what makes this place special is how they’ve preserved the original concrete floors and soaring ceilings while creating something completely new. Every bite comes with a side of “wow, I’m actually inside a piece of St. Louis history.”

Union Station Soda Fountain

You’ll feel like a kid again the moment you slide into one of those classic soda fountain stools. The ice cream here is absolutely incredible and a must-try—don’t leave without getting at least a scoop! There’s something magical about ordering an old-fashioned ice cream float or sundae in this vintage setting, and the quality will remind you why simple pleasures are often the best ones.

Collina’s St. Louis

This is where you go when you want to taste what St. Louis families have been cooking for generations. The moment you walk in, you’ll understand why locals have been coming here for decades—it feels like being welcomed into someone’s home. Every dish carries the love and tradition of authentic Italian-American cooking that defines this city’s food culture.

Bowood by Niche

If you’re like me and always hunting for the most unique restaurant experiences, Bowood will blow your mind. You’re literally dining in a greenhouse surrounded by lush plants and botanical beauty—it’s like having brunch in a secret garden. The Italian-inspired menu is elegantly simple, but the real magic is how connected you feel to nature while enjoying every perfectly crafted bite.

Stage Left Grille

This is your perfect pre-show ritual when you’re heading to the Fox Theatre. You’ll love settling in with one of their expertly crafted cocktails, feeling that anticipation build as showtime approaches. The sophisticated atmosphere gets you in the right mood for an evening of entertainment, and you won’t even have to leave the building to catch your show—the Fox Theatre is right there with you.
