Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Olivia to book your trip.

Day 1: Arrive in Montreal

Do a walking tour of Old Montreal. Highlights to see are: Place d’Armes, Rue St-Paul Est, Place Jacques-Cartier, Old Port, and Sailors’ Church. Have dinner at LOV McGill, a chic vegetarian spot.

Day 2: Pointe-à-Callière Museum & Cirque du Soleil

Start your day at the Pointe-à-Callière Museum – Montreal Archaeology & History Complex. Have lunch at Qing Hua Dumplings in Chinatown. See Cirque du Soleil—an incredible performance (Cirque was founded in Montreal!). Have dinner at Dinner at Barroco for a cozy atmosphere.

Day 3: Marché Jean-Talon, Ave du Mont-Royal & Aura light show

Take the metro to Marché Jean-Talon, an incredible farmers market. Walk from there to Mile End. Taste bagels from Fairmount & St-Viateur. Have lunch at Bar Darling and then stroll down Ave du Mont-Royal to see where the locals hang out. Have dinner at Bisou Bisou and then watch the Aura light show at the Notre-Dame Basilica.

Day 4: Start your Canadian road trip

Grab coffee and breakfast at the beautiful Coffee at Crew Collective (inside an old bank). Pick up your rental car to start your Canadian road trip! Towns to see in the Eastern Townships: Dunham, Frelighsburg, Sutton, Bromont, Magog, and North Hatley. The towns are filled with good restaurants and shops. There are also lots of wine and champagne tasting places, and a pretty lavender farm called Bleu Lavande (with a great gift shop, too!). Stay in one of these towns in a quaint inn.

Day 5: Travel to Quebec City

Head towards Quebec City and go a little north to see the stunning Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré basilica and Montmorency Falls (it's taller than Niagara Falls)—ride the cable car and walk across the suspension bridge. Or do the zip line if you're braver than me! Cross the bridge to visit Île d'Orléans. It's full of adorable houses, strawberry farms, and little waterfalls. Make sure to stop at La Midinette! Make your way to your hotel in Quebec City and drop off your rental car. I highly recommend Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Have a yummy dinner at Chez Boulay.

Day 6: Walking tour & libraries

In the morning, do a walking tour—we had an amazing guide and learned so much! Grab lunch in Umbrella Alley, shop, and do a tour of the Morrin Center to see a pretty, historic library. If you're a bibliophile like me, make sure to visit the Maison de la Littérature, another beautiful free library nearby. Have dinner at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

Day 7: La Citadelle & Battlefields Park

In the morning, do a tour at La Citadelle, and make sure to see the changing of the guards. Stroll around the Battlefields Park, Plains of Abraham, and cute shops on St-Jean Baptiste. Have afternoon tea at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and a casual dinner at La Buche.

Day 8: Downtown Montreal

Take the train back to Montreal for your last night before your flight home. Stay downtown this time to shop Rue Ste-Catherine, browse Little Burgundy, and stroll the Canal de Lachine. Have a delicious dinner at Le Vin Papillon, followed by ice cream and a canal stroll at Havre aux Glaces.
