Day 1: Arrive in Panama City

Cantina del Tigre

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.

  • Explore Panama City at your leisure while you adjust to the new time zone.

  • You’ll have dinner at Cantina Del Tigre—one of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, led by Chef Fulvio Miranda. Known for reimagined Panamanian flavors and creative mixology.

Day 2: Gatun Lake & Panama Canal

Panama canal Miraflores locks

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will head out with your private guide for a boat adventure on Gatun Lake. Navigate forested islands in search of monkeys, sloths, and tropical birds, with a picnic lunch served onboard.

  • Take the afternoon to enjoy your hotel or wander the streets of the city before being picked up by your guide for an exclusive VIP Behind-the-Scenes access at the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center.

  • Head back to your hotel to regroup before dinner at one of the many amazing restaurants the city has to offer.

Day 3: Fly to David

Coffee plantation

  • Take an early flight to David, where you will be picked up by your private driver and taken to a family-owned coffee plantation renowned for its award-winning Geisha coffee. Enjoy an immersive tour covering high-altitude cultivation and coffee tasting.

  • Have lunch at a local restaurant.

  • Finally, you’ll be dropped off at Hotel Panamonte, where you will stay for three nights.

Days 4–5: Hiking adventure

Los Quetzales

The next two days will be spent trekking Panama’s most iconic trails.

First, the Los Quetzales Trail, where you will hike from Cerro Punta through the lush cloud forest to Boquete, with opportunities to spot the elusive Resplendent quetzal.

  • Note: This is a long and more strenuous hike, so I recommend this for those in good physical condition.

For Three Lost Waterfalls, follow the forest trails to a stunning series of cascading waterfalls.

Day 6: Journey to the sea

  • After breakfast, you will depart by private transfer through scenic countryside to Almirante.

  • En route, stop at a cacao farm for a guided visit led by a local Ngabe-Bugle indigenous guide, with a traditional lunch included.

  • Continue by private boat (~30 min) to Isla Colon, then transfer to your hotel, La Coralina Island House.

Day 7: Full-day boat tour

Starfish Beach

Get picked up from La Coralina for a full-day boat tour.

  • Visit Snyder’s Canal (Panama’s first artificial canal, dating to 1899), now a wildlife sanctuary rich with toucans, kingfishers, trogons, raptors, manatees, and spectacled caimans.

  • Continue to Starfish Beach for swimming and snorkeling, followed by a traditional Panamanian lunch.

  • End the day with a short walk at Boca del Drago—where Christopher Columbus landed in 1502.

Day 8: Slow day in Bocas del Toro

La Coralina Island House

Take the day to enjoy Bocas del Toro at your own pace.

  • Explore the archipelago.

  • Relax on the beach.

  • Take advantage of the plentiful wellness offerings La Coralina has to offer.

Day 8: Return to Panama City

Panama City

  • Check out and enjoy a final lunch on your own.

  • After lunch, transfer to Bocas del Toro Airport for a domestic flight to Panama City.

  • Take a private transfer to your final night’s accommodation at the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo.

  • Enjoy one last dinner at Fonda Lo Que Hay—one of Panama City’s most celebrated restaurants.

Need to know

  • Boquete is cooler than you’d expect—bring a fleece or light jacket for evenings.

  • Waterproof hiking shoes are a must for the cloud forest hikes.

  • Binoculars are a game-changer for wildlife spotting on the canal and trails.

  • Pack reef-safe sunscreen—important for Bocas del Toro’s marine ecosystem.
