Curator’s statement
Greece is one of those destinations that lives rent-free in your imagination long before you ever set foot there, and I am here to tell you that it fully delivers. From the layered history of Athens to the volcanic drama of Santorini and the effortless cool of Mykonos, this country has a way of surprising you even when you think you know exactly what to expect. I had the privilege of experiencing Greece firsthand this April, and it completely changed the way I think about planning trips here. This itinerary is the culmination of everything I learned, and I cannot wait to help you experience it for yourself.

Day 1: Welcome to Athens

Rooftop dinner with a view of the Acropolis
Your Greek adventure begins the moment you land at Athens International Airport, and if you are traveling from the United States, you will likely arrive in the late morning or early afternoon. Use this first day to ease into the city rather than overscheduling yourself. Check into your hotel, explore the streets of your immediate neighborhood, and let the energy of Athens wash over you at a comfortable pace. As the day winds down, make your way to a rooftop bar for sunset cocktails with views of the illuminated Acropolis. It is the kind of arrival moment that sets the tone for everything that follows and reminds you immediately why you chose Greece.
Day 2: Ancient Athens & the heart of the city

Rise early for your guided tour of the Acropolis, and I cannot stress enough how important the word “early” is here. The crowds are real, the sun is intense, and there is virtually no shade on the site itself, so an early start makes an enormous difference in both comfort and experience. Equally important is having an experienced guide by your side. The Acropolis is vast and layered with history that is not self-explanatory, and a knowledgeable guide will bring it to life in a way that a self-guided visit simply cannot.
After your tour, make your way down the hill and into the winding streets of Athens Old Town, where you can browse for souvenirs, duck into a cafe, and soak in the atmosphere of one of the world’s great ancient cities. End your walk at Syntagma Square to watch the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Hellenic Parliament. The ceremony takes place every hour of the hour daily, but if your timing allows, the Sunday 11 a.m. ceremony is the most spectacular, featuring the full platoon of Evzones in white ceremonial dress accompanied by a live military band. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early for the best views.
Day 3: Athens to Santorini

This morning, you will check out of your Athens hotel and make your way to the airport for a short flight to Santorini. The flight is under an hour, and the Santorini Airport is easy to navigate, making this one of the smoothest transitions of the trip. Upon arrival, a private transfer will bring you to your hotel in Oia, the iconic cliffside village that you have seen in every Santorini photograph. Staying in Oia gives you something that day visitors simply do not get: the village in the evening, after the cruise ship crowds have departed and the streets are quiet, golden, and entirely yours. Spend your first afternoon in Santorini settling in, exploring the boutiques and restaurants of Oia, and savoring the fact that you are here.
Day 4: Ancient history & a local village

Today, you will venture to the other end of the island for a guided tour of Akrotiri, one of the most significant archaeological sites in all of Greece and often called the Pompeii of the Greek world. Having a knowledgeable guide here is essential, as the depth of history at this site is extraordinary, and context makes all the difference. Reach out to me for my personally recommended guide who specializes in Akrotiri and its significance to Santorini’s broader story.
After your archaeological visit, make your way to the hilltop village of Pyrgos, known as the Greek Heart of the Island. With just over a thousand residents and sixteen churches, Pyrgos is one of the most charming stops on the island. Wander the whitewashed streets, explore the churches, browse the local shops, and settle in for a leisurely lunch at one of the village cafes before heading back to your hotel in Oia for a relaxing afternoon at your suite’s private pool overlooking the caldera.
Day 5: The famous Fira to Oia hike & a sunset dinner

Start your morning with one of Santorini’s most memorable experiences: the hike from Oia to Fira along the caldera rim. At roughly six miles one way with some elevation gain and staircase sections, this trail rewards you with sweeping, uninterrupted views of the caldera the entire way. Starting early before the heat of the day kicks in is key, both for comfort and for experiencing the trail at its most peaceful. You will end your hike in Fira, Santorini’s other main hub, where you can grab a well-earned brunch or early lunch and explore the town before catching a car to the port for an afternoon catamaran ride to enjoy Santorini from the water. Book a table at a restaurant with a sunset view for your final evening in Santorini and let the famous Oia sunset be your send-off.
Day 6: Santorini to Mykonos

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel this morning before your private transfer to the ferry terminal. There are several ways to make the journey between Santorini and Mykonos, and the right choice depends entirely on your priorities. The ferry is the most economical option and a perfectly lovely way to travel, though it does involve managing your own luggage and navigating the terminal crowds. For a more elevated experience, a private boat transfer is a wonderful way to spend the day on the water and arrive in Mykonos in style. Flying and helicopter transfers are also available for those who prefer speed.
Upon arriving at the port in Mykonos, your private transfer will bring you to your resort, where a sunset dinner awaits. Mykonos is intentionally placed at the end of this itinerary for a reason: this is where you exhale, slow down, and simply enjoy.
Day 7: A full day of resort living & Mykonos Town

Today has no agenda, and that is entirely the point. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your resort, spend the morning and afternoon at the pool, and let the relaxed rhythm of Mykonos do its work. In the evening, make your way into Mykonos Town for a waterfront dinner and a taste of the island’s legendary nightlife. The town is beautiful at night, full of energy, and best explored without a strict plan.
Day 8: A cooking class & and an afternoon at the spa

This morning, head into the island’s interior for a farm-to-table cooking class and lunch. It is one of the most grounding and memorable ways to connect with Greek food culture, and the meal you will share at the end makes the experience feel especially rewarding. Return to your resort in the afternoon for a spa treatment before a relaxed dinner to close out the evening. Days like this are why you came.
Day 9: The beach club experience

No trip to Mykonos is complete without a day at one of the island’s iconic beach clubs, and today is that day. Mykonos is famous for its beach club scene: crystal clear water, fresh food, great music, and an atmosphere that manages to feel both celebratory and effortless at the same time. This is your last full day in Greece, and spending it exactly like this is the perfect way to close the chapter.
Day 10: Farewell to Greece

Enjoy one final leisurely breakfast at your hotel before heading to the Mykonos airport for your flight home. The airport is small, close to town, and easy to navigate, making for a smooth and stress-free departure. Fly home with a full heart, a camera roll worth envying, and more than a few ideas for when you come back.
Need to know
Shoulder season packing: If you are traveling in May or September, pack for variability. Days can be warm and sunny, but evenings cool down quickly, especially on the water.
Island-hopping logistics: There is no single right answer for how to get between islands. Ferries, flights, helicopters, and private boats are all options, and the best choice depends on your budget, timeline, and travel style. This is exactly the kind of thing I love helping clients think through.
Crowds are real: Santorini in particular draws enormous crowds during peak season, especially in Oia. Staying in Oia gives you the advantage of experiencing it in the early mornings and evenings when it is at its most magical.
Guides make the difference: Both the Acropolis and Akrotiri are significantly more meaningful with an expert guide. Do not skip this. Reach out to me for my personal recommendations.
End on relaxation: Structuring your trip with the most active days first and the most relaxing days last is a philosophy I apply to every itinerary I build. You will thank yourself on Day 9.
