Curator’s statement
My sister has made Edinburgh her home, and luckily for me, that means I get to experience the city like a local! Edinburgh makes eating dairy-free and vegan easy. The quality is amazing, and the diverse range of cuisine makes it a perfect place for vegan travelers.

Things to do in Edinburgh

Highland cows at Swanston Farm
Head to the Lighthouse Bookshop for an amazing range of popular and local gems. Lighthouse is a queer-owned and women-led independent community bookshop based in Edinburgh.
Explore The Meadows and take a walk or bike ride, or enjoy people watching and relaxing in this lively community park!
Visit the National Gallery of Scotland (National) and look for Callum the dog! His story is iconic, and in my opinion, he should be just as well-known and loved as Greyfriar Bobby.
Take the bus up to Swanston Farms and visit the highland cows!
Visit Portobello Beach for cute boardwalk shops and lots of pets playing in the sand!
Places to eat & drink in Edinburgh

Sora Diana's Mafalde Napoletane al Porcini e Tartufo
Paradise Palms is a queer bar that has a rotating kitchen with vegan eats. When I went, it was all vegan Mexican cuisine which was delicious and had lots of variety on the menu.
Sora Diana is a family-owned vegan restaurant with vegan pastas you wouldn’t be able to tell didn’t contain dairy. Their quirky design has celebrities in framed photos around the small shop, and feel deeply loved by the locals who frequent it.
Soul Vegan is Malaysian food in a tiny spot near the Salisbury Crags. Definitely make a reservation to dine-in, as there is very limited seating available.
Civerino’s is a local chain that has a few locations in Edinburgh. Each location with big “New York” style vegan pizza (with non-vegan options as well). This is a great quick, not too expensive option.
The Willow Tea Room has a great selection of teas and a vegan menu for afternoon tea with a view of Edinburgh Castle.
Lastly, Dishoom will always have a place in my heart for a thorough vegan menu that makes for a fantastic meal for vegans and non-vegans.
Need to know
Make sure you know when things close. Especially for activities, the shops can close quite early, so you want to front load your days with bookshop visits, museum walks, and save the longer food experiences and drinks for later in the day.
