Things to do in the Bahamas

Baha Bay Water Park
Baha Bay
This is the centerpiece for families: a beachfront water park with over 30 attractions, including a lazy river, wave pool, surf simulator, and slides for all ages. It’s included for resort guests, making it a huge value-add and an easy full-day activity.
Wildlife experiences at The Sanctuary & Flamingo Cay
Kids can see sea turtles, nurse sharks, and even interact with flamingos, which is one of the most unique, educational experiences on property.
Beach & pools at Cable Beach
The calm, clear water at Cable Beach is ideal for younger kids, and the resort pools range from lively to more relaxed, so you can choose your vibe daily.
Swimming with the pigs
Take a half- or full-day excursion for a bucket-list Bahamas experience to swim with the famous pigs. It’s a splurge, but incredibly memorable and great for slightly older kids.
Nassau excursions
Head into Nassau for a quick cultural outing to explore local markets, take a historical walking tour, or book a snorkeling trip to nearby reefs.
Places to eat & drink in the Bahamas

Katsuya Sushi
Regatta Breakfast Buffet
A must for families, this expansive buffet offers everything from made-to-order omelets to Bahamian specialties, making it easy to please even picky eaters. End breakfast at the popsicle bar! Bonus: Kids under 5 eat free.
Pizza Lab
A go-to casual spot with something for everyone: pizza, plus breakfast, pasta, and gelato. Perfect for an easy, kid-friendly meal.
The Swimming Pig
A laid-back gastropub with elevated comfort food that’s great for burgers, sliders, and casual dinners when you want something relaxed but still high quality.
Sugar Factory
A high-energy, over-the-top dining experience that feels more like an event than a meal. Think massive milkshakes, colorful desserts, and a full candy shop built right in. It’s one of the most “fun” restaurants on property and a guaranteed hit with kids (and anyone who loves a little spectacle with their dining).
Katsuya
A sleek, upscale Japanese restaurant blending sushi, robata, and modern California influences in a stylish setting. It’s a great option when you want a more elevated night out that features high-quality seafood, signature rolls, and a lively yet sophisticated atmosphere. And my kids loved the salmon!
Need to know
Choose the right hotel within Baha Mar
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is typically the best value and most family-friendly, while SLS Baha Mar skews trendier and Rosewood Baha Mar is more luxury-focused and quieter.
Book dining in advance
Restaurants fill up quickly, especially during peak travel seasons. Make reservations before arrival for spots like Regatta and dinner venues.
Plan your Baha Bay days strategically
Baha Bay can get busy, so arrive early for the best seating and shorter wait times for slides.
Budget for extras
While the resort includes a lot, costs add up quickly (food, cabanas, excursions like swimming with the pigs) and eating in The Bahamas is expensive.
Pack smart
Bring sunscreen, cover-ups, and water shoes as surfaces can get hot, and you’ll be moving between pools, beaches, and the water park often.
Know the pace
This is a large resort. Plan for some walking and avoid over-scheduling. Bring a stroller if you have littles!
