Baha Mar is one of those resorts that truly has something for everyone, which is why I was so excited to experience it firsthand. I’ve booked it for clients many times, but being on property helped me better understand the differences between each hotel, the dining scene, the pool and beach experience, and the little details that can really shape a stay. It is a great fit for families, couples, honeymooners, friend trips, and corporate groups—but the key is knowing which part of Baha Mar best matches the type of trip you want.

Things to do at Baha Mar
Flamingos at Baha Mar
Spend the day at Baha Bay Waterpark
Baha Bay is one of the biggest reasons families love Baha Mar. It has waterslides, a lazy river, splash areas for younger kids, and plenty of space to spend a full day without leaving the resort.
Visit the flamingos
The flamingos are such a fun and memorable part of the Baha Mar experience. It is an easy activity to work into the day and especially great for families or anyone who wants a unique photo moment.
Explore the different pool areas
One of the best things about Baha Mar is that there are so many different pool experiences throughout the resort. Some areas feel more family-focused and lively, while others are quieter and more elevated, so it is worth walking around early in your stay to find your favorite spot.
Plan beach time on Cable Beach
The beach is beautiful and easy to access from the resort. I would recommend building in time to actually enjoy it, especially in the morning or later afternoon, when it feels a little more relaxed.
Book time at the spa
The spa is a great option if you want to add a wellness element to your trip. Baha Mar can be high-energy, so having a quieter spa experience is a nice balance.
Walk around the resort before dinner
Baha Mar is large, and part of the fun is exploring the different restaurants, bars, shops, and hotel lobbies. I would give yourself extra time before dinner so you are not rushing and can enjoy the property.
Visit the casino
The casino is a big part of the energy at Baha Mar. Even if you are not a huge casino person, it is worth walking through and experiencing the atmosphere.
Places to eat & drink at Baha Mar
Marcus Fish + Chop House
This was a standout meal for me. The food, atmosphere, and service all felt special, and I would definitely recommend it for clients who want a more elevated dinner.
Marcus Up Top
Before or after dinner at Marcus, make time for a drink upstairs. It has a great vibe and would also work well for someone who wants something a little more casual than a full sit-down dinner.
Leola
Leola was another excellent dinner and a great option for Italian food on property. I would recommend making reservations in advance, especially during peak travel weeks.
Palms Café
Palms Café was a solid lunch option. I would not say it is a "must-do," but it is convenient and easy, which can be exactly what you need during a resort day.
The beach food trucks
They are a great casual option if you want something easy by the beach without doing a full restaurant meal.
The Reserve lounge experience at Grand Hyatt
If you are staying in The Reserve section at Grand Hyatt, the lounge is a great perk. I loved having the separate entrance, snacks, drinks at certain times, and the coffee machine. My tip is to ask for a cup of ice and make an iced espresso drink.
Need to know
Baha Mar is a large resort, so I always recommend thinking about the type of trip you want before you arrive. Do you want a family-friendly waterpark trip, a quieter elevated stay, a casino and nightlife trip, or more of a honeymoon/adults-focused feel? That will help determine which hotel and room category makes the most sense.
Dining reservations are important, especially if you are traveling during a peak season or holiday week. I would not wait until arrival to decide where you want to eat. The resort has a lot of dining options, but the popular restaurants can book up.
Who is this for?
For families, Baha Bay is a major highlight and adds a lot of value.
For couples or honeymooners, I would focus more on room location, dining, spa time, and finding the quieter pool and beach areas.
For corporate groups or incentive trips, Baha Mar is a really strong option because it has scale, dining variety, nightlife, casino, beach, meeting space, and multiple hotel styles all in one destination.
