Advisor - Three Days in Moab, Utah
Curator’s statement

Back in March of 2020, my son and I had planned an epic trip to Moab only for our plans to be derailed by Covid. Five years later, we made the trip happen, and it was probably better than our originally planned adventure. We ate, explored, and adventured through the beautiful landscape that is Moab, Utah.

Day 1: Main Street, BBQ & food trucks

After a five-hour drive from Denver, we needed to stretch our legs and get some food that wasn’t road trip food. We headed to downtown Moab to walk our tired muscles and hop in and out of the cute shops that line Main Street. My son and I always make it a point to do a few Geocaching, and we found a few along Main Street and at the famous Apache Motel. We satisfied our craving for BBQ at The Blu Pig—don’t miss out on the footlong mozzarella sticks! Make sure to check out the Food Truck Park, a cute piece of land full of local small businesses serving everything from Mexican food to pizza and shaved ice. There’s lots of seating and misters to cool off in the hot desert heat!

Day 2: Arches National Park, lunch & an ATV adventure

Day two was all about adventure! We headed to Arches National Park. Pro tip: Get the earliest timed entry to beat the crowds and the heat! We arrived right at 7 am, headed straight to Delicate Arch, and made our way to the trailhead. The hike to Delicate Arch is fairly easy, unless mobility is a concern. Roundtrip, it was a little over 90 minutes, with some time to relax and rehydrate at the Arch. Bring enough food and water with you into the park because food services do not exist there.

After your time at Arches, make your way to refuel at the Milts, a Moab institution. The diner burgers and brisket fries are a must!

Later that afternoon, we headed out with Moab Tourism Center for a 4x4 ATV experience on Hell’s Revenge. The name says it all! The name of the game was to “trust the machine.” We ripped around the desert and maneuvered over petrified sand dunes. It was thrilling and, at times, scary! We saw people of all ages on the trail. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for adventure and something to get the blood pumping.

Day 3: River rafting & Spanish Valley Winery

You cannot visit Moab without a river rafting experience down the Colorado River. Our guides led us down the river safely and pointed out many locations made famous in hit movies and music videos. It was a beautiful experience that I can’t wait to do again.

After rafting, we made our way to El Tapatio for the best Mexican eats and margaritas.

A local had told me about Spanish Valley Winery, a boutique winery a couple of miles from downtown Moab. Get the tasting and enjoy the property—it’s such a quiet, relaxing stop after all the adrenaline-pumping activities.

We ended our day at the cutest restaurant, Birdys, “A Finer Diner.” Locally owned, it serves homemade cakes, fresh food, and delicious craft cocktails!

Need to know

Moab is a destination for anyone looking for beautiful landscape that is out of this world and adventure that will get the blood pumping. You could easily spend five days here with the bounty of national parks, the Colorado River, hiking, biking, off-roading, and so much more.
