Things to do in Lynden, Washington

Taste farm-distilled spirits and buy a local souvenir at the farm store!

Stroll historic Front Street

Full of storybook charm! Cute boutiques, bookstores, and cafés line the main drag of Lynden. There’s literally something for everyone, from cute boutiques to bakeries and flower shops. Sandwiches from Avenue Bread are top-notch!

Bellewood Farms

A delightful family-owned farm a few miles from downtown. Their café and store are open year-round Wednesday through Sunday, but this place puts on a great show during special events. Visit their U-Pick apple orchard and pumpkin farm in the fall, or stop in on Father’s Day for the live music and car show!

Lynden Heritage Museum

Step into early 1900s life in Whatcom County as you explore three floors of regional history. Enjoy the life-size replica of Lynden’s old downtown, including a blacksmith and a general store. Veterans always get free admission!

Berthusen Park

Walk around this beautiful 236-acre property located a few short miles from downtown. Hike the trails, or bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the picnic tables. This park is ideal in the summer, with the cooling shade from the towering evergreens.

Jansen Art Center

Interact with the arts! Here, not only can you view exhibits from local artists, but you can also take a class in a variety of artistic media (painting, ceramics, performance). Pick up a unique souvenir from the gift shop!

Places to eat & drink in Lynden, Washington

The Dutch Bakery—a cozy spot for local treats!

Bellewood Farms Ten Mile Cafe

Next to their country market, this local café offers light fare such as soups and sandwiches. Visit their distillery for free tastings of farm-produced spirits and ciders. They also sell individual slices of their delicious fruit pies and other baked goods. Don’t miss the apple fritter!

Newsroom Pub

A fun restaurant located in the historic building where the Lynden Tribune printed newspapers. You’ll see this theme throughout the entire building. Try a local beer or cider alongside elevated pub food such as burgers and wings.

Lynden Dutch Bakery

This local favorite sells a large variety of housemade baked goods, including (of course) some Dutch specialties. They offer espresso drinks as well as fun treats such as stroopwafel lattes. If you can find their popular almond cake, it is a must-try.

Edaleen Dairy

Known for their fresh, local ice cream. Visit their store just outside of downtown Lynden to enjoy delicious flavors such as Fudgy Wudgy and white chocolate raspberry. You can also grab a gallon of fresh milk and other dairy delights to take home!

Woods Coffee

A family-owned chain that’s super local—in fact, they started in Lynden! Be sure to visit their location near downtown in a windmill-shaped building. Their espresso drinks are delicious! Non-coffee drinkers can grab a tea or a hot cocoa.

Need to know

Lynden is one of the biggest producers of raspberries in Washington State. If you’re in the area in mid-July, be sure to check out the Raspberry Festival!

Also, if you’re looking for more local accommodations, the city of Bellingham, less than a 30-minute drive away, serves as a great base. Plus, it’s also a fun city to visit!
