Advisor - Your Next Golf Trip Should Be in Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT—The Hidden Gems of Golf
Curator’s statement

For your next golf trip, you should consider Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT. Skip Vegas and drive straight to Mesquite—it’s just over an 80-minute drive from Las Vegas. Another 40 minutes beyond Mesquite will bring you to St. George. Between Mesquite and St. George, you’ll encounter desert-backdrop golf framed by mountain foothills. In St. George, courses are set against dramatic red cliffs, black lava flows, and coral-pink dunes. With more than 250 days of sunshine each year, it’s a perfect year-round golf destination. In my opinion, Mesquite and St. George are hidden gems—underrated for golf—and should be at the top of your list for your next trip.

Things to do in Mesquite, NV & St. George, UT

Where to stay for a golf trip in Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT

I’ll be upfront: if you’re looking for a party atmosphere, Mesquite and St. George will feel a little sleepy. Mesquite does have casinos, but it’s nothing like Vegas. This is more of a serious, golf-focused trip.

You have two main options for where to stay:

If you don’t mind a two-hour drive after landing in Las Vegas, stay in St. George, UT, particularly at Black Desert Resort for a luxury experience.

If you want to stay closer to Las Vegas, Mesquite, NV offers options such as Eureka Casino Resort or Best Western Mesquite Inn.

Either way, courses between the two cities are about 40–60 minutes apart. My personal preference is Black Desert Resort if you’re looking for a higher-end stay.

How long should you plan for a golf trip to Mesquite and St. George?

I recommend at least five nights, which gives you time for four rounds of golf without feeling rushed.

Which courses should you play in Mesquite, NV?

Wolf Creek Golf Club: A Top 100 course and a true bucket-list round.

Falcon Ridge: Rolling hills, water features, and striking desert scenery create a fun and memorable layout.

Conestoga: Rugged desert terrain paired with smoother, more forgiving stretches—a great balance of challenge and playability.

CasaBlanca Golf Club: A traditional desert course tied to the resort, stretching along the Virgin River with some surprising water elements.

Which courses should you play in St. George, UT?

The Ledges: A polished, high-end championship course with dramatic views over Snow Canyon.

Sand Hollow Resort: A must-play, with unforgettable holes carved along red rock ridges. Includes both a Championship Course and a fun Links 9.

Coral Canyon: Spacious fairways, classic desert scenery, and sweeping views toward Zion National Park.

SunRiver and Sunbrook: Approachable, community-friendly courses that still showcase the area’s natural desert beauty.

Black Desert: The region’s newest showpiece, built among striking black lava fields with emerald fairways and red cliffs. Bold, modern, and already one of the most talked-about destinations in US golf.

You really can’t go wrong with any of these.

When is the best time to visit Mesquite and St. George for golf?

Spring (March–May): Ideal, with temperatures in the 70s–90s.

Summer (June–August): Best for early-morning rounds. Midday is very hot, but the discounts are excellent if you don’t mind the heat.

Fall (September–November): Another prime season, with comfortable 70s–80s and perfect playing conditions.

Winter (December–February): Cooler (50s–60s) but still very playable. Fewer crowds and softer pricing.

My top recommendation is spring or fall for the best mix of weather and course conditions.

What else should you know about golf in Mesquite and St. George?

The time zones. Mesquite, NV does not observe daylight saving time, while St. George, UT does. Keep this in mind when booking tee times so you don’t miss your slot.
