Places to eat & drink in Hanoi

My second visit to Bún Bò Nam Bộ Bách Phương
Where to eat
Hanoi is a paradise for food lovers. The city is known for its street food, offering dishes that are as rich in history as they are in flavor. Here are a few must-try spots:
Bún Chả Hương Liên: This spot is famous for its visits by Obama and Anthony Bourdain, and I couldn’t miss it. I tried the “Combo Obama” (a grilled pork dish with rice noodles and herbs), and it was every bit as delicious as the hype. A must-try for anyone in Hanoi!
Bún Bò Nam Bộ Bách Phương: I loved this place so much, I went twice! Their famous beef noodle salad is packed with flavor and complexity. It’s an addictive dish you’ll want to savor bite after bite.
The Note Coffee: This little café is a cozy haven where you can enjoy delicious coffee and pastries. It’s a unique spot known for the colorful, customer-written notes that line the walls. I highly recommend trying their coconut coffee or egg coffee—both are a must.
Phở Gà Tình: For a comforting, local experience, visit this small, family run chicken pho joint. It’s close to the hotel I stayed at and offers one of the best bowls of pho I had during my time in Vietnam.
Hibana by Koki: If you’re in the mood for fine dining, Hibana by Koki offers an incredible dining experience with its modern twist on Japanese cuisine. Known for its sushi and exquisite presentation, it’s a perfect spot for a special evening out. The ambiance is chic, and the food is nothing short of spectacular.
Senté (Nguyễn Quang Bích Street): Located in a charming French villa, Senté specializes in lotus-inspired cuisine, offering dishes that incorporate various parts of the lotus plant. The menu features both meat and vegetarian options, focusing on healthy, oil-free dishes made with natural ingredients and healthy grains. It’s a serene spot that provides a unique dining experience away from the city’s hustle and bustle
Where to drink
Hanoi's bar scene is just as vibrant as its street food culture, offering everything from rooftop views to hidden speakeasies. Here are some top spots for enjoying a drink:
Bamboo Bar: Located in the heart of Hanoi, this stylish bar is known for its bamboo-themed decor and excellent cocktail menu. It’s a great spot for a relaxed evening with friends, offering both classic cocktails and unique creations.
Tadioto: Tadioto is a laid-back bar with a cool vibe, offering cocktails and a wide range of craft beers. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the evening, with live music and art exhibitions often taking place.
The Unicorn Pub: This quirky bar has a cozy, inviting atmosphere and serves up creative cocktails with an artistic twist. The bar is located off the beaten path and offers a refreshing alternative to the bustling streets of Hanoi.
Rooftop Bar at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi: For a more upscale experience, head to the rooftop bar at the Sofitel Legend Metropole. Enjoy breathtaking views of Hanoi’s skyline while sipping on a perfectly crafted cocktail in a luxurious setting.
Hero Bar: Located in the Old Quarter, Hero Bar is famous for its extensive whiskey selection and creative cocktail offerings. It’s a lively spot to enjoy a drink while mingling with both locals and tourists alike.
Hanoi Social Club: A favorite among locals and visitors alike, Hanoi Social Club offers a relaxed, artsy atmosphere with great cocktails and a selection of healthy food options. It’s a perfect spot to meet friends, enjoy live music, and soak in the chill vibes of the city.
