Curator’s statement
Stepping into Biltmore Estate feels like discovering a time machine to an era of unimaginable luxury and innovation. I was amazed by the sheer ingenuity of the 1890s—here was a home with an indoor bowling alley, a heated indoor swimming pool, elevators, and running water throughout, all cutting-edge technology for its time. The architecture absolutely took my breath away with its French Renaissance grandeur, intricate stone carvings, and soaring ceilings that you simply don’t see in modern construction. For me, Biltmore represents the pinnacle of what was possible when vision, craftsmanship, and resources came together during America’s Gilded Age, creating something truly extraordinary that still feels magical more than a century later.

Places to eat & drink

I’m not normally a vanilla ice cream person, but The Creamery at Biltmore completely changed my mind! Their homemade vanilla is sweet, creamy, and absolutely amazing—this is what real ice cream should taste like.
The Dining Room at The Inn
The estate’s premier fine dining experience has been awarded Four Stars from Forbes Travel Guide for eight consecutive years and recognized with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2006. Features seasonal meats, seafood, and hand-crafted pastas in an elegant setting. The lamb chops here are some of the best you’ll ever have!
Stable Café
Experience Appalachian comfort food in the estate’s original horse stable—yes, you’re literally dining where the horses once lived! The house-smoked meats, Carolina barbecue, and grilled burgers are excellent, but the real star is the complimentary bread-and-butter pickles served as a table appetizer—they’re absolutely to die for.
Biltmore Winery Tasting Room
Essential for wine lovers—taste award-winning wines made from estate-grown grapes while learning about the winemaking process. Their white wines are some of my favorites, especially the sauvignon blanc—absolutely exceptional!
The Creamery at Antler Hill Village
Hidden gem alert! This charming spot serves homemade vanilla ice cream that’s absolutely delicious—the perfect sweet treat after exploring the village and gardens.
Cedric Tavern
Try the bison burgers—they’re absolutely delicious! A great spot for unique fare and a memorable dining experience on the estate.

A note from Jodi
To dine on the estate, guests must have a daytime ticket or Biltmore Annual Pass, or stay at one of the estate’s overnight properties. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made online.
Need to know
Plan for multiple days
Don’t try to rush through Biltmore in a single day—there’s simply too much to see and do to properly enjoy everything. Plan at least one full day to explore the house and gardens, then dedicate an extra day to Antler Hill Village and the winery. This allows you to truly savor the experience without feeling hurried.
Christmas at Biltmore
If you’re a Christmas lover, this is absolutely a must-see! I’ve toured during Christmas season and it’s absolutely stunning—there are Christmas trees in almost every single room of the house. The holiday decorations are breathtaking and transform the estate into a winter wonderland. However, this is their busiest season, so book well in advance and expect larger crowds.
Timing your visit
Arrive early (when gates open) to avoid crowds and get the best photos
Visit the house first thing in the morning when it’s less crowded
Save the gardens for late afternoon when the lighting is perfect
Christmas season (November to January) is magical but extremely busy—book well in advance
What to bring
Comfortable walking shoes (you’ll be doing lots of walking on various surfaces)
Camera with extra battery—the photo opportunities are endless (especially during Christmas!)
Light jacket even in summer—the house can be cool inside
Water bottle, especially for garden exploration
Money-saving tips
Consider an annual pass if you’re planning multiple visits or staying overnight

Take advantage of the free shuttle service between locations
Don’t miss the basement areas of the house—the bowling alley and pool are incredible
The best garden photos happen in the early morning or late afternoon golden hour
Weather considerations
The estate is beautiful year-round, but spring (azaleas) and fall (foliage) are spectacular
Summer can be hot and humid—plan indoor activities during peak heat
Winter offers a completely different, more intimate experience
Making reservations
Book dining reservations online as soon as you know your dates
Specialty tours fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons
Consider staying on property for exclusive dining access and a more immersive experience
