Advisor - I Lived in Jackson Hole for 6 Weeks—Here’s My Ultimate Winter Guide
Curator’s statement

I recently returned from six incredible weeks living in Jackson Hole, where I was working as an actress in the Christmas show at the Jackson Hole Playhouse. During my time there, I fully immersed myself in everything the area has to offer—from winter activities and breathtaking scenery to the local culture and food scene—and I can’t wait to share it all with you. Jackson Hole has long been slept on in the winter (unless you are skiing), but it’s time to start planning your snowy escape. Jackson isn’t just a summer destination—it is beautiful all year round and less crowded, too!

Things to do in Jackson Hole

Thousands of elk at the refuge!

  • Snowshoeing in Grand Teton National Park: Explore untouched winter landscapes on a half-day guided snowshoe tour with Eco Tours. Choose your difficulty level, spot wildlife along the way, snack on local treats, and end the adventure with warm hot cocoa—all while taking in jaw-dropping Teton views.

  • Elk Refuge Sleigh Ride: Bundle up for a magical one-hour sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, where thousands of elk migrate each winter. Learn the facts of the refuge and migration from your guide as you marvel at these beautiful animals.

  • Winter Yellowstone tour: The only way to see Yellowstone in winter is by snowcat or snowmobile, and a full-day snowcat tour is unforgettable. It is a long day with a large amount of driving, but the breathtaking views of Yellowstone covered in snow make it worth it!

  • Snow tubing and mountain coaster at Snow King: Pure fun for all ages. Race down the tubing hill or take laps on the mountain coaster for hours of winter thrills right in town.

  • Jackson Hole Aerial Tram and Corbet’s Cabin: Ride the iconic tram to the summit for unbeatable views and famous waffles at Corbet’s Cabin. Yes, it’s pricey—but the scenery, snacks, and vibes make it a must. Don’t skip exploring Teton Village while you’re there.

  • Skiing (three mountains, three vibes): Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers luxury, expansive terrain, and legendary après-ski. Grand Targhee is a local favorite with deep powder and fewer crowds. Snow King is perfect for night skiing and offers a smaller footprint.

  • Cross-country skiing in Teton Canyon: A quiet winter wonderland in Bridger-Teton National Forest. Glide through scenic trails enjoying the fresh snow and peaceful views. You can even bring your dog to watch them roll around in the snow!

  • Soaking in hot springs: After long days in the cold, nothing beats a hot mineral soak. Book a slot at Astoria Hot Springs or hike to the free local springs (yes, I have the location). Your body will thank you!

  • Jackson Hole Playhouse: Located in the oldest building in town, this iconic dinner-and-a-show experience is winter perfection. The performers double as servers, making for a fun, interactive night you won’t forget. You may even catch me in a show!

  • National Museum of Wildlife Art: Even non–museum lovers will be impressed. Stunning wildlife paintings and sculptures set against the Tetons, a manageable layout, and even a scavenger hunt make this a surprisingly fun and memorable stop. This may be my new favorite museum!

  • Snowmobiling adventure: A must for thrill-seekers. Speed through snowy landscapes and take in breathtaking scenery—one of the most exhilarating ways to experience Jackson Hole in winter.

Places to eat & drink in Jackson Hole

  • Million Dollar Cowboy: This is an iconic spot if you want to listen to live country music, go dancing, and have a few drinks. It’s my favorite bar in the world!

  • Pinky G’s: Casual place with good pizza and delicious spiked huckleberry drinks

  • The Local: Modern American restaurant located right off town square

  • Hatch Taqueria and Tequila: Delicious modern Mexican cuisine and great huckleberry margaritas
