Advisor - Romantic 3-day Getaway to Savannah's Historic District
Curator’s statement

For couples seeking a romantic escape that is full of history and Southern charm, Savannah, Georgia belongs at the top of the list. Large oak trees with hanging moss in quaint squares are the perfect backdrop to your three-day getaway. Savannah is incredibly walkable, and when your feet get tired, you can hop aboard the local trolley. Stay near Forsyth Park for a more local feel or choose a property along the riverfront.

Day 1: Forsyth Park & town overview

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

Start your day by strolling around Forsyth Park. Don’t miss the famous fountain in the center of the park and the Candler Oak Tree at the northwest corner of the park. When you need a place to rest and refuel, enjoy a snack or a light bite on the patio of The Collins Quarter, located steps from the fountain.

After the park, join a walking tour or a hop-on-hop-off trolley tour to see an overview of the Historic District. Learn about the town’s Civil War history, see the beautiful Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and hear about the Oglethorpe Plan that divided the town up into 22 public squares.

Day 2: Spa treatments & rooftop dining

Savannah Belles Ferry

Take the Savannah Belles Ferry across the river to the The Heavenly Spa at the Westin for a couples massage. Then, you can ferry back to enjoy drinks and dining at many of the rooftops along River Street. A few notable favorite rooftops are: Rocks on the Roof, Top Deck, Bar Julian, and Peregrin.

Day 3: Coffee with a cause & museums

Bitty and Beau's Coffee

Start your day with a trip to Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, where they don’t just brew a great cup of joe but they also employ and advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

After caffeinating, head over to one of the many beloved museums in town. The 3- part Telfair Museums, the SCAD Art Museum, and the American Prohibition Museum are all popular choices.

Need to know

Savannah is walkable or you can take advantage of the DOT shuttle trolley. It is so easy to use. There are stops marked throughout the Historic District, and it operates on two continuous loops. Shuttles arrive at each stop approximately every 10 to 20 minutes.
