Glimpse of Ojai beauty
Malibu things to do and where to dine
Beach: A little-known secret among locals is Zuma Beach, where families, lovers and friends pack a picnic and frolic along this long, spectacular shore-line. Swim, body-surf or catch a glimpse of grey wales as they migrate. After heading south with a long walk along the beach, often referred to by locals as ‘Free Zuma,’ be sure to grab a cocktail or snack at the local celebrity hip and happening Sunset restaurant. It's truly a gem in Malibu.
Market: Towards the north, Trancas Country Market is a charming retail, grocery and dining place for Malibu locals. Rest and relax among the barn-like structures. No visit to this fabulous little market is complete without dining at Kristy’s Malibu Village Restaurant and Café. Kristy, of Hawaiian origin, greets guests with warmth and a dashing smile, serving up delicious food with care in a welcoming and hip atmosphere.
Shopping: Malibu Village is renowned for its surf and pop-like culture, featuring a bespoke curation of retail and healthy vibe dining. It's a delightful place to discover unique finds in a beautifully designed open-air shopping area. Just down the road, be sure to try the gorgeous Greek salad at “Malibu Farm at the Pier.” The restaurant boasts a fabulous, playful atmosphere and has a fun, relaxed staff, all while being suspended above the water on the pier.
Nobu Malibu: No stop to Malibu is complete without a reservation at Nobu Malibu. Wow. This is an incredible dining experience indeed, featuring beautiful and sustainable food in a stunning setting as the waves crash below.
Agoura things to do and where to eat
In the “Three Magical Miles:" Next to Peter Straus' Ranch is one of the coolest local spots that’s off the beaten track: a unique restaurant, winery and antique store. It’s full of charm and life — definitely a must-visit! Be sure to make reservations to dine at The Old Place, where you can enjoy honest food in a relaxed, down-to-earth California atmosphere. After your meal, head next door for a story-driven glass of wine at the lively Cornell Winery. If you love French home & garden architectural antiques, don't miss shopping at Charme D’Antan, which offers a wonderful curated selection of French home and garden antiques.
Paramount Ranch: If you wish to explore where classic Hollywood Westerns were filmed, visit Paramount Ranch. After a few photo ops at the historic Western film sets, take the time to stroll through the sweeping grasslands and bear witness to the majestic old oak trees.
Hiking: Discover beautiful natural pools just down the road at Malibu Canyon. Make a day of it and have a dip if you are brave, and hike and explore where the legendary TV show M.A.S.H. was filmed.
Whizin Market: A stop at Whizin Market Square offers a unique experience for shopping, dining and enjoying live music, all at 100% locally owned establishments. For the best gelato, be sure to stop by Tifa Chocolate and Gelato. Additionally, Sunrose, a restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team, serves delicious California-inspired lunches with a modern twist. Making it a perfect spot for family and friends. The atmosphere is light and inviting, and you will be greeted by the friendliest staff, ensuring you leave with a smile.
Music: For music, the legendary Canyon Club at Whizin Market offers old-skool live music concerts to tap your feet to, or have a little boogie.
Westlake Village things to do and where to dine:
Spa anyone? The Four Seasons Westlake Spa and Centre for Health and Wellbeing is a local oasis. It provides a nurturing retreat with beautiful pools, and a stunning spa and fitness facility. A must-treat yourself experience.
I must say, staying at the Four Seasons Westlake feels like home and a perfect central location to explore the region. As a favorite local staycation spot, you may even finding yourself staying put it is so lovely! The hotel is beautiful, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. With a reservation, guests can enjoy numerous complimentary offerings, including daily wellness classes in yoga and fitness, access to the spa facility, and the hip 'Cove, Pool, Kitchen and Bar,' where you will always find a fabulous local to share a story with. There's also a boutique shop, a medi-spa, and a lovely setting for dining with views to a gorgeous landscaped waterfall. As a preferred partner, I can provide additional perks, such as resort credits, daily breakfast for two, and room upgrades subject to availability.
While there are many fabulous restaurants in Westlake. A couple of favorite local hideaways are the intimate and eclectic Pearl District Restaurant. For super fun, organic and delish daytime treats, visit the JOi Café. Additionally, make a reservation at the upscale Mediterraneo, a local hotspot along the shores of the 125-acre Westlake — yes, it's a lake! Will surely leave you satisfied.
Ojai:
If you extend your time in the area, consider taking a trip to one of California’s spiritual centers in Ojai, California. The Ojai Valley Inn, nestled among fragrant lavender and majestic old oak trees, offers a perfect staycation paradise, where you can dine, shop, play golf, enjoy a spa treatment (Get all mudded up!), practice yoga or simply relax by one of their hip pools. Grab a stroller bike and ride to Ojai’s charming village for a local artisan shopping experience. A stay of 2–3 days is ideal for a perfect reset.
